Because the OG Xbox was quite powerful it didnt need a successor yet and it got plenty of software support from third parties

Developers wanted the limited use of games, so that would force more people to buy more games, which means more profits.

This will still happen, discs are going away if not nex-gen, I see the gen after that. At that point users will be forced to buy their own games.

Microsoft always listen to devs when creating their consoles. The devs wanted DRM. But the gamers said no, so Microsoft pulled back.

See Nintendo killing off the wii u, just a little over 4 years, Microsoft was criticized for this, but when Nintendo does it, it's ok.

I agree but software can still sell, lets just see if Nintendo continue to support the system with more than just breath of the wild.

Ummmmm Nintendo has gotten alot of criticism for killing Wii U after 4 years.........
