Forums - Gaming Discussion - If NX was delayed it's good for PSVR.

One thing that struck my mind when they announced the delay,  PSVR no has no competition this Holiday.

I don't know what the NX is but what I do know is it's a new console offering a new experience and it will be heavily advertised.  the same applies to the PSVR.

It definitely wouldn't have done the VR any good having a new Nintendo console advertised heavily as a fun gaming device to families all across the world.

If there is one silver lining from this delay it's that psvr can maximise it's sales potential this Holiday.

Yes, definitely.

Edit: I mean...I don't know if I would call it a silver lining. Since it appears to be good for one group of people, and bad for another. But it's good for Sony, and as someone who hopes PSVR does well, it's good for me.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

LOL Delay........

They never once announced it coming in 2016.

Eh, I think it helps a little just not to have another expensive piece of gaming hardware fighting for coverage and peoples money.

its irrelevant to PSVR

This.

I strongly doubt anyone in the market for PSVr this year is trying to choose between it and a new Nintendo console.

I think it helps psvr not having another expensive new gaming device on the market.

It wouldnt matter. The group of people that would buy the PSVR, would buy it even if NX came the same day as PSVR, and the people that are not interested enough in it is not going to use its extra money just because NX was delayed 3 months.
People forget that PSVR is too expensive and too unproven to have that kind of mass appeal that consoles or handhelds(or cellphones for that matter) have.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

different markets.  Its irrelevant.

Both part of the gaming market.  There is a cross over for sure.  Very relevant.

The 'delay' is irrelevant.

Are you saying lifetime sales of either is impacted by this 'delay' .  Which isn't actually a delay by the way.

We dont even know what NX is yet.

It's pretty clear what I'm saying.  Having one less high profile console releasing same time as psvr is a good thing.

Yes I know what you are saying.

I'm saying it makes no difference.

Show me a PSVR customer that would have cancelled their preorder or delayed their order with a NX release.  Would you?

The man who buys his kids their Christmas presents.  He's looking into a gaming device.  The $400 NX is being heavily advertised and looks very fun and appealing for his kids that currently play top much cod on their ps4. But then there is the PSVR for a similar price and it also looks really fun and not too serious.

Dilemma.  He can only afford one or thinks one will suffice.  Ends up choosing just one.

There you go.  That's one example.  As I said it's a good thing for PSVR.  That's a fact.
