Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why they have to launch zelda U and NX on the same day?

What i wonder is will what happened with the GCN-version of Twilight Princess happen to the WiiU-version of this new Zelda where it will actually launch later than the NX-version

My question is why wont they show the NX off at a time when all eyes are on them? There is nothing bigger than E3 in the gaming world. Doesn't make sense to me. Are they really going to announce a ND 1 or 2 days before they show it off?

One of my theories is that they want people to focus on wiiU games and not really the NX. Like if they show off the NX at e3... They won't really be able to show much for the rest of the year about the NX since they would already have covered it and their directs would probably be focused on wiiU games like Paper Mario since they still would want to promote that.

This way, they can promote their upcoming wiiU games at e3 and most of the media will be focused on them regardless of when they do announce the NX. Yes it won't be as big as it would be on e3 but considering they do have games launching this year for the wiiU which they need to sell, I think its an okay choice. Not one that I like but that is what I think their reasoning is anyway.

When they do announce the NX, I think they never want to look back at the wiiU ever again in terms of promoting

I just dont think they have much more than what is already announced for the WiiU. There is definitely not going to be any more big games.

Agreed but I think they still want to promote whatever games they got like Paper Mario and Zelda U

We dont even know if Zelda U will be released after the NX version like TP did. So what they really are marketing is Paper Mario if thar happens.

I don't think that matters too much. What Nintendo wants for this year is for people to continue to buy wiiU and wiiU games. If they show off Zelda for the NX, then the wiiU sales would tank fully where as if they show off Zelda for the wiiU, then the wiiU sales would continue imo. So even if they are doing that TP nonsense with the wiiU and NX, as long as they promote the wiiU version until they announce the NX, then people should continue to buy wiiUs.

I doubt Nintendo wants the sales of the wiiU to drop until they are ready to go full NX. 9 Months is a very long time (from e3 announcement to NX launch)

Clue maybe in AMD's report, AMD don't start their new chips until the second half of the year which is after E3.

Yeah maybe... They should still show off some games for it though.

They are just not at E3 they have an event or ND planned later this year for NX as their President has indicated, this E3 is no doubt just for the last bits and bobs for 3DS and Wii U so the may not even be an E3 event planned. If NX has a particular concept or several concepts employed in its feature that they want to keep secret for now showing NX games could out those features for one.

800k forecasted for a full fiscal year is already a considerable drop.
