Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ni-Oh makes Dark Souls look like easy mode

I'll definitely get it. Reminds me of Demon's souls. Much harder than the dark souls games.

Fast Souls.

Fast Souls = Bloodborne
Fast Bloodborne = Nioh

But the game isn't very fast. O_o

So I tried to play it again, and this time I've been grinding a little, not sure how my stats are supposed to be distributed though, so I just increased my spirit and used the little green dog to get more... whatever souls are called on here, only 3% more, but every little helps, and from there levelled up my strength and heart, along with the odd point in body, this way I deal higher damage, and have more health and ki, I've also figured out how to learn new skills, and decided to roll with a primary katana high stance build... although it's a shame weapons break so easily!

I also didn't even know about the pressing R1 to regain Ki after a combo thing until I just watched a video on YouTube about an hour ago, that would've saved my life so many times!

high stance does high dmg, but uses a lot of Ki and doesn't regenerate Ki while blocking (middle does), so be careful to not swing around too much

high stance recovers some Ki if you use the triangle finisher when the white/blue particle converge around you and ofcourse you can use the R1 Ki recover aswell

personally I've mostly stuck to middle stance as I'm good with parrying (only possible in mid) and I like that you regenerate Ki while blocking in mid, but a more efficient way to play seems to be to def in low/mid stance, then switch to high for attack and then quickly switch to low stance and do an evade (evade in low stance does the same Ki recover as R1 in all stances)

I don't believe the demo was terribly difficult, I feel like trying to play like it a Souls game is where most people fail.

The game becomes much, much easier when you learn the game's mechanics. It all comes down to how much you're actually paying attention to your Ki and enemy spawns.

I hope TN doesn't lower the difficulty

Haven't played it, but it does seems fast.
The dodge steps and attacks seems way faster than in the Souls series.

The game is slower than all the Souls games, despite some specific maneuvers which are done in a quick fashion. Otherwise, every enemy attacks in a very slow pattern (ninjas aside). Let's not forget the Ki draining, which either forces you to stand still or to quickly press R1 to recover some, which again breaks any fast-pace there could be. No, this game isn't about being fast.

It's actually much easier to get to an enemy's backside with rolling/sidestepping than in any souls game but it takes a bit more skill to use it effectively since you're not always facing the locked on foe. Also the parries are fairly easy to use. How make use of the stats is more interesting. The souls games were boring with either going to 25 or 50 on a stat to reach caps. I really like the knock down parry. My favorite weapons are the spears. They were a couple of things that i hope they change for the final game. I don't like that both ninjutsu/magic take up shortcut slots where items are used.

The game may have some burst to it in your chains or dodging, but the game overall is much slower and methodical.
