Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ni-Oh makes Dark Souls look like easy mode

Yeah, that's not the same, then.
WotS weapons had friction heating, defending too much would result on it getting hot and even breaking, some weapons couldn't take like 5 consecutive hits and they were about to or already breaking.

Hence why punching and being sorry to people was much better than using a blade in WotS.

Yay, another game exploiting the recent internet hype around "hard" (notice the quotes) games and the internet falls for it, again. Just like pixel art/retro graphics became an over-saturated fad in gaming a few years ago, this wannabe Souls thing is next in line. Wish the industry could be more innovative instead of trying to cash in on whatever fad is popular with the internet nowadays.

Ignore it and move on, the industry stopped being innovative a while ago. Nothing wrong with this game

Cant remember, i think it starts by M and is à long name

Yeah, it was a long name.
Kinda like this: MgdsjyagdX

Thinking about how he joined my game without me using one of those items to invite another player into my game, it might have been a developer indeed.

Definitely the same guy.

Yeah, oddly, after that, i tried to use the item to summon other players but no one came, he is the only one who has been able to come before i beat the first boss ( maybe he  comes to rescue beginners in difficulty with the games ), so i could finally join someone, but no matter what i do, no one comes to help me.

How do I parry in this game?

unlock the skills then while holding L1 for block press triangle or square at the right moment

Or better , just block at the good time and it will put the ennemy stamina in the red and stop his attack leaving you the opportunity to counter attack.

Extremely hard game. Chances are the finished product will have difficulty settings or the difficulty toned down(I hope it is the former, give the players the choice). I'm liking what I have played so far, the combat is tough and complex which I like. Loving the resolution/frame rate choice too(I choose frame rate).

In a way it reminds me of Tenchu minus the stealth elements.

Fast Souls.

I'm now filled with determination.

with the parry you are behind the enemy and deal extra dmg - btw timing a square hit right in the parry will make it include a slash to the back after which you can follow up with multiple square hits and regain the Ki afterwards with R1 to finish the probably now Ki-less (if not dead) enemy with a triangle grapple

and the just-in-time L1 block seems more risky to me, because usually I'm a bit late with parries if I miss which results in me blocking the enemy's first strike anyway and parrying his second strike if he does an immidiate follow up

The question is if the difficulty is fair. I don't think Dark Souls are that hard if you're prepared and you're careful. Based on what I've seen of Ni-Oh, it seems totally unfair sometimes.

I disagree with that. DeS/DaS certainly have lower expectations, you just need good patience and that usually is enough to beat those games, while in Ni-Oh just blocking/evading and occasionally slashing won't get you all that far, the game expects you learn the intricacies of it's fighting system.

Well in fact, my method is less risky because if you miss, you just block the attack, and ive never achieved to do the parry right, this way is easier.

While with the parry to get behind his back, if you fail ( and it seems easy to miss), you are vulnerable.

sounds like you are more prone to be early with blocks/parries then, I'm the opposite so parrying works better for me as it simply counts as a block when I do the parry late, while with the timely block I'm open for an attack if I'm late on that

Dunno about "a lot prettier", but a lot of details changed in between versions here. Look at the bus for example. And changes to the lighting and coloring gave it a different feel as well.

In a few cases there may be an actual difference between the final product and pre-alpha codes. However we've been tricked a lot since previous gen. Especially by Ubisoft whose games actually look worse than the so-called pre-alpha code (Watch Dogs, Far Cry and The Division). In the videos below you can compare Metro Last Light ''pre-alpha'' with the final product. There is little to no difference, it may actually look worse. I am no programmer, but I know pre-alpha refers to a very early code and plays/looks significantly different than the final code. So I am not buying these pre-alpha lies anymore.
