Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ni-Oh makes Dark Souls look like easy mode

The question is if the difficulty is fair. I don't think Dark Souls are that hard if you're prepared and you're careful. Based on what I've seen of Ni-Oh, it seems totally unfair sometimes.

well does any one really know the game mechanics to proof it? this alpha demo only exists for 1 day so far, and from i have seen there is tons of stuff espacially in the combat system. Not only does it have different weapons but even 3 different ways to hold a weapon and each can be upgraded with new abilities. Alot of the animations you can choose from look even like they came from Dynasty Warriors, the lance one.

Then there is the bow which can be used at any given moment its not a weapon class or something but a gameplay aspect like in bloodborne with the gun.

Item exist too, you have to use them make your weapons burn with elements and stuff.

And a ninja aspect exist too with shurikens. I didnt even bother at that point because i was overblown with so many game mechanics i am holding it back on porpouse for now lol.

Ugh looks like I'll scratch this one off my list then. Don't have time for frustration these days...

Why not trying it out first?

ehh i dont think its THAT hard, still hard but it gets alot easier when you get use to the controls and systems. Will definitely be picking this up a launch.

Is it as rewarding? And is it fair?

Not bad at all. I was talking out of my ass tbh, based on YT gameplays and what I could see and read, but I definitely want to give it a proper try myself since I'm a Dark Souls fanatic XD. What I could see seemed pretty brutal. And I'm still not sure that brutal in a good way.

I haven't even made it to a second shrine or anything yet, I get to a group of like three people (One of them jumps out from behind some boxes) and get FUCKING #REKT every time! Although I did kill them one time, then carried on, killed some guys in a field, and got shot with an arrow... and then killed by some prick with a big spear!

It's REALLY hard, although in a 1v1 fight I can kill enemies rather easily depending on their weapon... two at a time can be tricky (Those first two guys sat near the fire, holy shit WHAT?! The guy with the axe one hit killed me so many times!), and then three or more at once... it's bloody impossible for me!

... And yes, I'm not afraid to admit that after over an hour of trying to beat the first area, I rage quit, lol.

I got to the second shrine after some guy jumped into my game, he had a huge hammer and mauled down everything. He ran around showing me all the secrets. Hidden green thingies that lets you activate certain perks (+5% armor drop rates, increased soul drop rate, etc), kicking down ladders for shortcuts, and I got about 8000 souls following him, then I died because we were in an area that was way out of my league, and apparently that boots him from my game, so I lost all those souls. =( Got lots of gear though.

I know what group you're talking about though. They're pretty hard unless you separate them. I usually run down the hill, so it's only 2 v 1.
I beat them once or twice, but that's about as far as I got on my own. Died on some enemy soon after that.

OMG !

I met the same exact guy, he did the same things and i reached the second one two only thanks to him, i wonder if he's not a developer, or maybe the first man to finish the demo in the world

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

It is definitely hard but somehow addicting because of all the different ways you can attack an enemy. I thought by increasing my stats and getting decent equipment I would be able to defeat the enemies in the starting area but wow, I still got killed a lot by even the first enemy you encounter. LOL. Then one time I decided to be more careful and be more defensive and do more running around and actually was able to reach that area with lots and lots of enemies without taking damage(well until the area with lots of enemies where I thought I was about to ambush one enemy and then suddenly all these other enemies appear and attack me all at once).

the game gets easier the more you level up, (not talking about farming to become over leveled or anything like that, just normal progression), or by finding better gear, that being said i agree the game does feel more challenging than the soul series.

Dark Souls isn't trying to be hard. It's trying to be punishing. The mantra is "prepare to die," but it really should be "prepare to try."

Actually, it should just be: "prepare"

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Yeah I didn't progress any further after hours of playing lol, thought it wasn't for me. Then I got better loot and started upgrading myself, now I can take more hits and do more damage.

You can perfectly take on 3 guys, dodging at the right time and looking out for your stamina is key.

I got to the first boss/semiboss I think, the one up above in the house.
