Alright look, before we get into this topic. This is a personal opinion and when I explain my reasons for this opinion it could become your opinion too. Yeah I know its a 3D Mario game and it has success.... but does it deserve more success than it already has? 

Super Mario 3D World IS a masterpiece! Nintendo totally NAILED it when they brought 3D Mario into HD. It's the top 5 Mario games of all time in my book. But what people dont see is.... its better than Super Mario 64 and Sunshine. All the levels in 3D World was awesome and beautifully designed! The controllers were perfect, the graphics were amazing to look at, it made 720p look like 1440p the music was heavonly melodies! But yet no one sees this.

Super Mario 3D World is the highest rated Nintendo IP Wii U game beating other Nintendo IPs. It beat Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Wind Waker, Tropical Freeze and others. 3D World also beats Sunshine by rating. 

It's sales also weren't that great compared to other Nintedo IPs. It did okay but it wasnt even a FIVE Million seller at all. A four million seller is kinda dissapointing for a 3D Mario game.

Like sure people would say stuff like "Well the Wii U is a failure"... Well look at the Gamecube it was a failure too and Sunshine is still considered the best 3d mario game.Yes I know the Wii U was more of a failure but its like no one says that stuff about 3D World.

I can listen to the whole soundtrack over and over and not get sick of it. It's like they dedicated alot of their time and efforts to make the soundtrack good as possible. The controls are absolute perfect and much better than their previous games. I hated Super Mario 64's controls and its remake Super Mario 64 DS. The Wii nunchuk kinda made the controls a bit sloppy and confusing on the Wii. Super Mario 3D Land had its success with the 3DS's sales, but the 3DS nub could get slippery sometimes and did okay for controls. But with a real controller with real analog sticks. the controls were the BEST for 3D World.

It's the best 3D game out there because it has EVERYTHING. Fun, Controls, Graphics, Gameplay, Music, Skill and everything else.

Go look at some Super Mario 3D World footage, listen to soundtrack and compare them to other 3D Mario games. Look at its sales and ratings and compare them to other 3D Mario games. Go ask people on their opinion on 3D World, they wont say its their favorite, or its one of the best.   

By "underrated" i am not talking about the ratings or anything. I am talking about on how the game is measured by greatness.

Its a great game, but my least favorite 3D Mario console game.

Its kinda like why I don't like the console NSMB games. They just feel like they are made to be played in MP only, so playing them alone make them seem kinda empty. SM3DW does a much better job at it though.

I thought it was too hard. The difficulty totally ruined it.

I mean, it's a great game for sure, but I would never rank it above any of the other 3D Mario games (Besides 3D Land, I guess). Things like the time limit, linear level design and the overused cat suit really drag this game down imo.

Edit: VGChartz seems really unstable for me today, are any of you having issues as well?

You're joking, right? I mean, besides maybe some levels of the secret worlds the game is pretty easy.

Back on topic, I think the game is despised by some players because of not being the super original, big and absolutely masterpiece that the 3D Marios use to be (except Sunshine). And while that's correct, I think 3D World is the 3D Mario I had more fun playing.

I totally agree.Jumping from one platform to another was too hard.Mario should have had wings so he could glide!
