Forums - Politics Discussion - Target announces genderless bathrooms!

its my understanding that, accoding to their policy you use the bathroom you identify with at that time-

that is the only way they could really enact that type of policy-   its not just "a man wearing a dress'

if a guy "dressed, loking and acting" like a uy walks into the womens room-  who is to say he isnt feeling like a women that day? once you open that door i don t see any way you can dictate who uses which bathroom if someone decides to use "the wrong" b room

so your wife, mom, sister, daughter walks in and a man walks in behind them, how does anyone judge what gender that person identifies w that day

THE tARGET POLICY IS moronic-

its going to cost them business-    there will be more incedents of harrasement and percieved harrasment than previous and there will def be some physical altercations-    your 5 yr old daughter goes to the ladies room and  a creepy looking guy tries to walk in behnd her-  what are you going to do?

Wal-Mart stock is actually not doing so hot, think the OP is collating two things that have nothing to do with one another.

Do the bathrooms actually have urinals? or is it all just Stall action in there?

I think for me it's just a different atmosphere, girls bathrooms do not have the urinal type of use, it is fairly uncommon for them to ever see each others parts unless it's a nightclub bathroom with a lot of drink involved, where it's completely common place for guys to stand next to each other talking with their dick in their hands.

Would be weird for me if I'm honest but having said that I think it will be many years before Ireland has this as an option nevermind having it as the only option.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Yet no one has a problem with lesbians in the womens and gay men in the mens.

Because it's not about sexuality. It's about gender.

Companies shouldn't be making political statements. Anyway I'd hope there were some guidelines in place to minimize possible abuse of this. I could definitely see people take advantage of this. Really isn't worth the hassle it can cause

How is this a political statement?

So what happens if there's a male pedophile behind your 5 year old son in the men's bathroom? What are you going to do then?

What happens if there's a "man" (technically) who looks 100% like a woman that walks into the men's bathroom and now your son is asking why is there a woman in the washroom? Is that any better of a situation? Or should transgender people just not pee ever in public?

I'm referring to sexual perversion fears, people fear men dressed as women being in womens toilets and vice versa and that situation is ridiculous as pointed out in my first comment.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Doesn't Target have family bathrooms or unisex bathrooms? If so why is this even an issue? Just use those ones then if you're so scared of going to the bathroom publicly, or how about just not using a public bathroom at all.

Also I read all of the dad's post that he made and at the end of the post he said that Target no longer values customers for trying to make everyone feel welcome in their stores. Talk about over-exaggeration. So because Target didn't comply to HIS specific needs, he no longer feels valued? He needs to get off his high horse, Target isn't going to restrict certain people just because he wants them to.

Target did the right thing here.

The last time I went to McDonald's, the toilets were gender neutral. Every single coffee shop (Costa, Nero, Pret etc ) in London, they all have just gender neutral toilets. I don't really understand what the big deal is.

If the toilet is gender neutral, than protective Dad dude should have absolutely no problem with this policy. If he's really that worried about lurking creeps spying on his daughter in the Bathroom he can always just go with her.
I don't know how it's handled in america but over here it's pretty commenplace to see parents (reagrdless of gender) in either restroom with their children (also regardless of gender).
It's also pretty common to see girls in the guys restroom if the line for the girls room is too long and no one bats an eye. (Vice versa is more uncommon because usually there never a line in front of the mens restroom, but I've seen it happen at small venues as well.)
This shouldn't be an issue.
