I support the legalization of euthanasia. I think that people have to decide if they want to end their lives in their own terms. The legalization of euthanasia would surely help a lot.

Canada just recently legalized it under certain circumstances, and I have to say I agree. Although it is hard to outline when it is acceptable there are time where a person should have the right to die peacefully, although we can not understand the wish to die, it is a personal decision and I think I would like the choice if at some time I no longer wished to live, be it due to pain or severe disability.

Why don't people just kill themselves? Because killing yourself is kind of hard sometimes both physically and emotionally. Euthenasia is not just about people wanting to off themselves. It is about people wanting to die with dignity. There are people for whom living is genuine torture. People who either live in physical agony, or people who have a failing mind and want to end their life while they are still themselves. There is no reason to always choose life. There are some situations in which life is of such poor quality that it would be incompassionate to allow it to continue. The kindest thing we can do for people in such a situation is help them to end their life on their terms, in a way that will be best for them and their loved ones. |
Well said, damn you have a way with words sometimes.

Especially with made up words like incompassionate ^_^;;
Anyone whom has ever watch their love one suffer and slowly die in a painful way would be in support of euthanasia.
Funny, it the states we are all for it for our pets, but they don't see the same compassion extended to each other.
So for it.

Odd... I thought someone with your views on sexuality and whatnot would be more open minded... And I've been supporting this for a while now... |
so the right for love is the same like the right for death? Thats two different things

How is it a mental illness? Usually the people who go for euthanasia are those that are terminally ill and in a lot of pain or something. So given their choices are choose to die right away or live the rest of their short life in agony. I don't think choosing to avoid that suffering can be called a sign of mental illness. Besides, it shouldn't have anything to do with the government. It would be each persons choice to make by themselves. It would just mean people who were suffering could ask for help to end that suffering without the government punishing those people. |
Its an mental ilness, its not normal to wish death for any life form. These termanlly ill people with a lot of pain cant think normally like people who are under heavy drugs and alcohol. So its unfair to assume they really want death.
Still it could be abused, people could just kill someone and say he wanted it just because he looked a little bit of emo to the public. And the goverment could claim the same thing if they dont like someones opinion.
And so more its abused privatley you will see the goverment stepping in taking controll for who can life and who has to die like nazi germany did.

It really doesnt take much effort thinking ahead where it will be going.

Important distinction here; I trust this was your intention. A surprising number of countries were on the wrong side of this distinction about a century ago.
