Forums - Gaming Discussion - PSN alone almost generated the same sales than all of Nintendo in 2015

I said it isn't funny. Didn't take long for someone to get upset.

Don't you love when people discredit facts with "oh I don't care about sales and profits on a sales and profits forum, I only care about GAMEZ"?

Facts are usually accompanied with proof, links and numbers. Didnt see any in Rols post.

You are free to believe whatever tho.

My stance is the same, "GAMEZ" are more important than the finances of a company that dont put money in my pocket.

I wonder if this is Sony's cut of it or if it's just total revenue (before the pubs/devs of sold games get their cut).

Regardless it shows how much money a successful console can bring in with 3rd parties on board.

Would be nice if Zhuge could clarify that as I'm wondering the same. Though it did say Sony generated, and not PSN generated. So I'm assuming it's Sony's cut. Would also make sense from the way he made the comparison.

I'm pretty sure that this is revenue total from earning reports so I don't think it would make sense that it would include sales without the cuts.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

Is this without royalties?

That's crazy. How much revenue did the entire game industry generate in 2015 in total excluding and including smart devices?

Generated money isnt the same like profits tough

If I posted that, it would be sarcasm. Why? Because Sony's profits from gaming aren't impressive when they have three things going for them: Strong third party support, dominance in the home console market and subscription fees for online multiplayer.

My fun fact of the day: Nintendo's single-biggest year in profits from video games is greater than the profits Sony made through PlayStation's entire lifetime.

Yes, I know. That's not funny.

Link , because what I remember was the charts showed Sony most profitable year during the PS2 hey day was equal to nintendo's best year , but many people thought it would be more given the huge retail I also remember the PS3 had eaten up those profits , so while I agree with you about profit over the long run ,I'm not sure about Nintendo's best one year profit being greater than sony's total.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

So ? It's nothing surprising when you know there's million of people who are willing to pay a forced online service by Sony ...

I've never been forced to do something willingly.

It's more likely people pay for it because they enjoy using it.

Nobody is forced to pay for PS+. That's like saying that people are forced to buy Nintendo games.

The argument of "I get free games and discounts so its fine the fee" is flawed in its principle. PS+ and XBox Live are services that get the users a deluxe experience on both buying games and getting games for free. But the problem is not the games I can get with them, it's the ability to access the content you paid for in the first place. If I buy a copy of CoD, I can play the multiplayer inmediately on PC, but I have to get the service on a PS4/XBox. I paid the same money for both, why do I need to pay more on consoles? At that point the free games are not a gift, they are a consolation.

I totally get your point.

I never play online because of my shitty internet, but im subscribed to Ps Plus.

As a Vita, PS4 and PS4 owner, them giving me 6 games a month is more than enough to see the worth of paying 50 bucks a year.

IGN keeps track of Gold and Plus, there are months that the games are worth more than 100 bucks, just in one month.

That is beyond a consolation, that is an amazing deal imo.

Bad Connection sucks, i know this feeling but sine 1 1/2 Years i have a good Connection! And Yeah, im playing a lot online, i would say around 80-90% of that Time is Online, alone or with friends. So its more than worth. I always saw playing for "free" on PS3 as a gift cuz like i said, for me this is like paying for Internet or Sky, PPVs and all that stuff, from my point of view im so damn fine with this.

Oh. This is a thread.

Basically point of this was to show how big PSN has gotten for Sony in recent years. Continues to grow.

I posted this just below that tweet. Can someone post the actually image here. I'm on my phone atm
