Forums - Sony Discussion - Report: 6 million Americans Intend To Buy PSVR

So almost half of the PS4 audience in NA is ready to buy the VR set, without any post-launch testing, post-launch reviews or confirmation of support from the big publishers? Either this report takes a lot of things for granted, or people are really confident in this.

This.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

where is the "ps4 audience" mentioned? there is no information on how many of those 6 mio own a ps4. im planning on buying rift/vive but i ve no VR ready PC as of yet.

this data is only to estimate consumer interest. not exact numbers within a certain time frame.it gives a vague picture of what to expect.

A lot of people spend $700 on their phone alone. Getting a ps4 + PSVR which appeals to the whole family isn't as bad as you think.

But the adoption rate for phones are much faster than consoles

And that would fit in line with this.  There are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more smart phones out there than this 6m figure being thrown around.

I am certainly buying it no questions asked.

What PSVR game are you most looking forward to?

A $400 ps4 sold 4ml WW. Lets be generous and say 3ml people in the US buy a psvr. Do you really expect 3ml new customers to spend more than $700 in one country.

Yeah, let's just see how that goes when the thing launches. These reports and reports of things like "pre-orders above expectations" are really quite worthless until the last details are in place and the product is readily available. My guess is a good couple of weeks at first, mostly due to pre-orders and enthusiasts, followed by a somewhat slow first holiday simply due to pricing (a peripheral that costs more than the console won't fly off shelves and come easily into the hands of more casual consumers).

It'll sell less than half of that

So, you think it's cap is less than 3m overall units?

This survey is "intend to buy" which definitely doesn't equal a pre-order or sale. Really, it means they have a maximum of 60% of current users to even have a chance of winning over.

That's cool, if even half get it that would be huge.

Much will depend on word of mouth and how the launch goes. I know it is less powerful than the Riff or HTC one, but might be good enough for fun.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

In what timeframe though?
