Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft in unique position to disrupt Sony's console reign

So devs, upset at having to make two ps4 versions, are going to devote all their time to the Xbox with a much smaller install base and weaker hardware because it's easy to port it from the PC version?

Uh-huh.

What I took from the Neo stuff is that the Neo version can't be "worse" than the base PS4 game, not that it necessarily has to be better. I don't think Sony is going to abandon Indie devs after highlighting them so much over the last 3 years.

Microsoft cannot beat Sony unless Sony beats themselves. Sony even trailed them in a generation here they were losing (coming back from am eight million console deficit). Thats never been done before in gaming and it probably wont happen again unless Sony is losing (which was basically one out of four generations). I love my XBox One more than my PS4, but come on lets be real here.

Microsoft is spreading themselves Windows 10 concept which is annoying more people than the original promising prospect intended. The PS4.5 is annoying so Sony will not get off the hook for that. Consoles are not the PC, its supposed to be a one size fits all situation (which makes the console realm easier for devs so they can focus on multiple consoles).

Microsoft has a singular advantage over Sony: the new Windows 10 Dev Mode. This new tool allows devs to make a single game that's playable on both PC and Xbox, alleviating the need for multiple ports. Sony's PlayStation 4.5, on the other hand, is a nightmare for devs because they now have to make two PS4 ports of every game

Tweaktown? The writer's in need of a "tweak" alright..

The Neo leaks show there is no "porting", it's, using those words, "to make a single game that's playable on both PS4 and Neo". Imaginary "advantages"

LOL at the writer.

We also have rumors of XB1.5 and NX running 4K, if anything I think the entire gaming industry is "upgrading" together. Some people are just hating that PS4 is catching all the attention.

Devs aren't allowed to do that.

So basically we will never see a single Indie game on PS4 ever again as the standard PS4 version will look the exact same on PS4.5.

Yep, indies are going to get hammered over the new rules for development.

People laughing when I said get ready for the waves of delays incoming now, or the flood of games that arrive in August ahead of the new restrictions.

So much "for the players", should be now "for the hardcore whiners"

As stated before, we dont know how hard is to port games from PS4 to PS$K(By that I mean how hard is to make the enhancements that ps4K allows), and I find the lack of NX mention inthe article, since the moment could also be beneficial for it, disturbing!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Sony just beat themselves pretty hard with a pretty big stick,  shot themselves in the foot, and peed all over PSVR.

We'll see how this plays out, but they just s$#& all over their lead.

I highly doubt Microsoft will capitalize on this though, they are just as lost.

Oh, dear. What an embarrassingly awful article. So many things wrong that it's not even worth the effort.

Wait, is that a parody news site?

It's been a while since I read something so out of touch with reality. In large scale, this will mean nothing for Xbox. PC however will benefit from easier console ports, and Windows on mobile will benefit from getting the same apps as other platforms. But for anyone already developing PC version of their games, Neo is going to be just a minor inconvenience (and for everyone else, it won't be a whole new platform; it'll be more like 10 % or so of a platform, effort-wise).

Firstly, it didn't take Microsoft 3 years to reverse the reveal backlash. It took a year, if that.

Besides that, how would PS4K give Microsoft an advantage?
