Forums - Politics Discussion - Harriet Tubman to Replace Andrew Jackson on $20 Bill

WASHINGTON — The Treasury Department will announce on Wednesday afternoon that Harriet Tubman, an African-American who ferried hundreds of slaves to freedom, will replace the slaveholding Andrew Jackson on the center of a new $20 note, according to a Treasury official, while newly popular Alexander Hamilton will remain on the face of the $10 bill.

Other depictions of women and civil rights leaders will also be part of new currency designs.

Cool. I was hoping Jackson would get replaced.

Absolutely love this. Hamilton's contributions to the founding of this country are enormous.

Jackson was a poor president, with a terrible track record with American Indians and the extension of slavery. And Tubman is an all-around excellent choice to replace him.

As long as Ben is kept on the $100 bill(and actual US historical figures are put, regardless of gender), then I'm fine with it.

Harriet Tubman deserves the recognition.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Look...  I don't condone slavery, and I do not know the reasoning behind originally choosing Andrew Jackson for the $20.  But as a male member of the human species of Asian decent with roots from South America, WHO THE HELL IS GONNA REPRESENT ME ON A PIECE OF AMERICAN LEGAL TENDER?

Very nice!

cool i guess.

i hope this doesn't become a rotating trend. i'm pretty annoyed by the whole quarter thing where every quarter ever is different.

Changing it because people complained. Lol pathetic.
