Forums - Gaming Discussion - So uh, what does Microsoft do now?

I think ps4k is not very powerfull, juste VR ready... Microsoft going to invest more in xboxlive and make streaming gaming service... Nintendo will take the way of cloud computing communal with NX...

I try to imagine all brands leaving all markets where they aren't leaders...

Tim and The Princes...

Launching a completely new xbox in 2017 could be a good move, especially if Sony does indeed release a PS4N in 2016. There is no way Sony could counter with a PS5 a year after that. With a more powerfull cpu and additional ram for 4K resolution, it would have a real advantage.

Remember Xbox 360 released 4 years after the first Xbox and it did very well. In fact if Microsoft hade released a successor to the 360 in 2009 Playstation would hade very likely been crushed. Obviously Microsoft made some loses of their own with the 360 at first so a longer generation was in their interests aswell but that's not the case with this generation. There is nothing stopping them from releasing a new Xbox in 2017.

i dont think they can do anything its over for this gen no. PS4 is the console that everyone wants.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

MS will probably wait until 10nm chips are possible, and release a new console as soon as they can.
If thats 2018, thats when it happends, if its lateron.... then its lateron.

I think it would be a bad idea to launch a Xbox Two on 14nm, and try to make it vastly superior to the PS4k (neo).
Either it falls short, and its the new xbox vs the same old ps4, with it being a tiny bit better.
Or its ALOT faster, but doesnt end up costing 400$, instead its like a 699$ which will sell bad because of price.

The best option for MS is to probably do a 1.5 version of Xbox One, and release that as soon as humanly possible.

to stay in parity with sony.... or to just work on the slim model and go for super super cheap option (199$).

Microsoft is not #1 in many of its fields. That doesn't mean you close up shop and leave lol. I mean seriously........

360 was profitable since 2008 if you look up their quarterly reports. Now losing that gen to PS3 by what.....2 million consoles is not by any means a crushing defeat. If anything they were winning the majority as PS3 had to crawl up to them over the years and finally passed them.......when the succesors launched.

And Microsoft lately has been doing this thing of making money off competition. They have been making their services available on competition devices for the last few years, and making a ton more money in doing so. Same goes in gaming.......we really appreciate PS gamers helping to fund Xbox with the purchasing of Minecraft ;P. Same goes for porting games to PC......making money off gamers who wouldn't tradionally buy a console or a Xbox.

Xbox One is making par. Not the PS4, but certainly not the Wiiu. They just have to stay the course and start the next gen, but do it on the right foot this time.

Microsoft isn't winning.  Lets be real for a moment.  The 360 was successful because the competition was too expensive.  That is the main reason.

And also because the Xbox was so prone to breaking.  Divide their sales in half and you still have more units than actual owners.  Thats why the PS4 is crushing.  Not because its really so much better... There just isn't that many Xbox Owners out there.  Xbox Empire is really Xbox village with a mountain of broken 360s everywhere.

It was a gimmie.  A freebie.  Our oponions don't matter. Microsoft can probably sell 35 million at most, and the folks who are against their PC push haven't put 2 and 2 together.  You said 360 was profitable every quarter, and yes, people had to replace them every quarter or so (although I really want the last itteration of the 360)

They keep unifying Xbox with PC.

Been awhile since I have heard the good old RROD sales conspiracy theory lol.

Do You know that the majority of that broken 360 were replaced by MS, with a HUGE cost to them? Don't you know they even extended the warrantie because of that? in Europe MS replaced your 360 during 3 whole years for RRoD without asking nothing, and givin away free months of gold or even games, as a compensation? You know that without RRoD the 360 would have been WAY more profitable, and without all the negative press during the early years they could have already sold more units?

Have you seen that the total software sales of the past generation? The differente between PS3 and Xbox 360 are around 30m games in favour of the 360? what are you talking about? you're just trolling.

Tim and The Princes...

If MS wants to support and push VR, launching XBOne Two too early would be a suicide, they couldn't offer a full HD VR device bundled with a console powerful enough to fully support it at a reasonable price.
XBOne 1.5, despite a reaction move to PS4k, is probably the only sensible one, it won't allow MS to win this gen, but it will prevent it from slipping down further. Neither Sony nor MS will fully use the new HW on games, but newer AMD tech with smaller process will allow savings with time, and it will also allow both to immediately start selling premium non gaming 4k contents on their stores and channels.
