Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MICROSOFT FY16 Q3 RESULTS: Rev $20.5bn. Op Income $5.3bn. Net Profit $3.8bn

As a Microsoft developer i naturally would like good results :)

Same here but they are always delivering, not worried at all :)

I'm looking forward for those 365 results. Microsoft is doing so well with this. Their transition to the cloud with Microsoft Office is flawless so far.
They are beating Google docs in enterprises by a miles and became the number one cloud application used by businesses in less than one year. Even beating Salesforce (which was the number one SaaS application used by businesses before that).

Their Cloud platform is also becoming so attractive. Azure is quite on par now with AWS. While Google is coming at them with the Cloud Compute and Cloud App. platforms they are still far behind the 2 behemots. Amazon will have the lead obviously with years of head start but Microsoft is a real challenger, just love it. (sidenote: Google cloud app. platform is quite cool for the devs of you who like to try new technologies for fun :))

365 is amazing. I didn't expect it to be such a big hit. I was so wrong XD

Meh... no numbers.

Makes it very boring to read through this thread.

Then why did you even bother reading through this thread, moreover, bother to post on it. Your intentions are very transparent.

His post literally hit the spot. It was for bait for kow which he took. Ironically if Kow never said anything there wouldnt be need for that post xD

Edit: I was still hoping for numbers.(i didnt expect it) Hopefully one day whether its a quarter report or not we get them.

Hope they finally reveal some XOne numbers, instead of the "were doing just fine, thank you!"

they will always reveal some xbox numbers.  just not the numbers, consolewarrior want for theire fight. and that's a good thing.
beside fanboys and pr statements, no1 cares about absolute unit sales numbers anymore in the industry.
ea, activsion and ubisoft didn't stop to give out numbers because they were bad. they stopped, because it's not gen 6 anymore.
selling a copy and be forgotten does not make you money in the long term.

Xbox hardware revenue decreased 9%, mainly due to a decline in Xbox 360 console volume.
Xbox One revenue decreased slightly, due to higher console volume, offset by lower prices of consoles sold.

Come on, unit sales certainly matters, in fact much more so than revenue volume, where reduced part costs is irrelevant to MS profit.
Unit sales translate into Live subscriptions (and discrepancies are relevant to note, good and bad), as well as software sales (likewise).
Some of that info is translatable into future profit forecasts, but solid info on current real sales is 100% relevant for corporate report,
i.e. changes in attach rates of Live, in Live revenue per account, in software sales conventional and digital, in accessory sales, etc...
Without unit sales than you are missing a major part of the picture, both on areas where they fall short, and where they are doing good.

Just curious, does anyone know when Sony's next earnings report is due out? Not familiar with when they get released.
