If this the way the console market is going, I'll go PC. The whole point of having a console is to have a set platform. What's the point of having an upgradeable closed architecture? Devs have increasing gotten poor at optimizing for one spec level. This is a disaster waiting to happen. It's all the cons of the PC platform with none of the benefits.

Damn, they probably would have aimed higher if the PS3 wasn't such a mess in the middle of last gen. I'll welcome a more powerful PS4. The base model can get discounted or slimmed for a stronger price for the base, if all games work like mentioned. The upgrade may be similar to how we experienced games like the Last of Us Remastered's 60fps vs 30fps on/off feature. So you have the choice of 4K upres or improved frame rate, maybe both, depending on the developer. Either way, 1080p should be an easy standard and not be a juggled decision among devs.

Still...I was planing on PSVR and a new TV. Now I need to consider a 4K TV along with the new PS4 and still ensure I'm budgeting all this properly.

It's not upgradable, they are two different models. There is nothing "upgradable" about it....

If you were to try to get similar performance on a PC, it would cost between 1.5K and 2K plus, I think this is a great OPTION for people who like 60fps and a few extra flourishes in their games. For people who just want to simply play the game, the base model will still do a great job. They haven't taken anything away from the base model.... people should stop feeling like they've been robbed.

If we support this, it will probably mean all of our games and peripherals will be able to work with future consoles, no more remasters and rebuying games just because. These are real savings.....

I realy hope they aren't planing on releasing a PS5 for another 4 or so years cause I dont buy consoles so I have to buy new ones 2 years after release, consoles are suposed to be a relatively cheap investment that lasts for around 5 or so years.

You tell them! Be back in a year and list the PS4K only extra features, better performance, and exclusive games. PS4 has the support of many big Western developers, and trust me.. It is right up their alley to screw the already existing userbase just to deliver 60fps.

Are they fucking serious about 50gb disks, and the hard drive remaining the same? And the laser reader too? LMFAO!!! I doubt this. Even if it's upscaled 4k, I'm pretty damn sure that Sony knows how many Gigs of data 4k takes.

If this is true. It's pretty much confirmed that this is a 1440p console being touted as 4k for marketing purposes. Actually, technically a lawsuit can be filed against them for this. Expect bigger install files with patches. I fucking love my PS4 and I'm one of those people that see Sony as the saviors of this generation... but this is dirty. This is down right fucking dirty. No wonder it will be easy to scale games form the old PS4 to the Neo PS4. The CPU being 30% stronger seems right, the GPU being twice as strong... well the launch PS4 was outdated from day one, but this is some serious marketing bullshit right here. Some may consider this to be a scam.

Good job for potentially losing gamer's trust Sony. You worked so hard to build that just to drop it like a bowling ball on your foot. If the NX is all that... It's seriously going to cannibalize the market at this rate.

Hopefully Microsoft gains some ground with some of this anti-Sony sentiment that is going around (Although I doubt it).
We have all seen how much more humble both companies are when they aren't on top, consumers win.
