I've grown accustomed to the underwhelming nature of it all. Nintendo was terrible in the Wii u with only a few gems, Microsoft is the underdog to me and I'm not interested in underdogs. Sony released the most boring vanilla console to ever gain massive success because no one else competed. 3DS was awesome but it's well past its prime. The vita is the vita.

But I've grown used to it. It's all just boring to me, and I feel like my standards for the generation have dropped considerably. I'm not really bitter about it though. Not anymore. It's just boring. I'd rather talk about games now than play them because so few things are worth playing.

I think the NX will be exciting, and I think PS Now, when it's perfected, will be exciting, and I think what Microsoft is doing with Xbox and Windows 10 is exciting, but none of that is here yet, so it's just a bit of a boring wait until then. And that's only if none of them fuck something up.

Short story: Meh.

Long story: I haven't exactly warmed up to it, and on bad days I'd say the 8th Gen sucks so far and been one of the worst since ever, with only the 3DS, the early days of it at that, doing something memorable. There's just no "vision" this gen. No "new" stuff, nothing to get excited about. It all just feels like "been there, done that". Anyway it's not that there's only bad games, some have been good, a handful even great and on the PC front there's a tiny upswing, but will they stand with the tried classics for all time is the question. This gen's nothing like the 7th, where there were many new ideas to try, and exciting new technologies to witness. I feel like this gen is a continuation of the 7th, and that's boring. In a lot of ways it mirrors my opinion of the 6th gen. I know a lot of people praise the 6th gen, but really I only ever truly liked the Dreamcast (and PC) back then, and like today with the 8th's relation to the 7th, the 6th was just a boring refinement of the 5th.

Can't say anything has been memorable so far. I mean i love playing my Vita/3DS and all, but nothing on console has grabbed me in.

I Love Playstation, but my uncle works at Nintendo.

Underwhelming for me since this marks the first gen where I haven't felt compelled to buy a new system, instead I decided to go with a 3DS at least a year and a half after launch and decided to stick with a custom rig.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Pretty much me, the PS4/XB1/Wii U has nothing that i can say i absolutely need to own one for.

This is the first gen where I "REALLY" became a gamer!!!!!

Last gen where it started. I had a Wii and DS. But I didn't really invested in them.

This gen I had the Wii U, 3DS and a Better PC (not a gaming one). I probably have bought over 40 games in all 3 of them (probably only 1 or 2 indie titles).

Sooooo I can't really compare it to any other gen!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Its decent

I dunno. It's all up to SE honestly. They've always been that missing piece in the puzzle of a generation to make a gen feel good, but last gen they didn't do so well. 2015 was a great year overall, but there was still some things lacking; ie my most anticipated game last year was MGS5, and while great, I have no intention of replaying it.

2016 should hopefully bring back some goodness we've been missing for a while. I'm just tired of these homogenized games. If SE drops the ball again with FFXV I suppose I'll give TW3 a try to try and fill that missing hole I desperately tried to fill last gen, but couldn't really.

Lube Me Up

It's great for me. I have never bought so many games in such quick succession (around 16 ~ 20 over 2 years, which is a lot for my budget) and such variety as well. It looks like the rehases and HD collections are dying down a bit and new IPs are starting to flourish.

I will say i have opened my eyes to Indie games this gen, i didn't really buy them during the PS3/360 era, but now i can find more fun in some Indies over AAA games. Think it all started with Shovel Knight for me, and has been going strong since. Constantly looking for new ones to play on Vita.
