Got to go back to 6th gen for greatness and perhaps before that. Didn't think 7th gen was that IMO, this gen has started pretty well.

Not saying your opinion is wrong or anything, but I really cant see why some people didnt like the 7th gen. So many great new IPs and sequels to established ones.

While some highly anticipated games have disappointed quite considerably, many companies have dropped the ball in big ways, and each console was a bit slow to start delivering, from an overall design standpoint this is one of the best generations yet. As much as I enjoyed 7th gen, the near death of once great genres and dominance of the linear scripted corridor shooter were tragic events that took most of the gen to shake out of. Now things are becoming more diverse again, with games opening up their design (more open world games than ever, f.e.), old genres seeing new and exciting entries, unique and risky indies becoming bigger than ever, and no one genre really monopolizing the market. 8th gen certainly has plenty of its own problems, but there hasn't been this much variety in a long time - if ever.

Pretty meh to be honest. I am highly disappointed in my Wii U, still waiting on a PS4 killer app, and all the consoles are very weak. The only great things thus far imho have been Titanfall (which you don't need next gen to experience) and the new/better UI for each console.

3DS has delivered.

I'm absolutely loving the eighth generation! I waited two years to the day of the PS4 launch here in the US to pick up my Sony system. The new model C (40 watts less power and quiet). I was always a huge Nintendo fan and I do love my Wii U, but the Big N is doing everything wrong this generation while Sony is doing everything right.

Seriously I see to many parallels between what Nintendo is doing now by dropping the Wii U so soon and what Sega did with the Dreamcast. If the new NX system is launching this holiday it's going up against PSVR. My pre order for PSVR is in. Not getting the NX until Nintendo can prove to me that they can get their act together. My Wii U is now officially my secondary gaming system.

That said, there are tons of games on both systems I am having a blast with.

Other than the systems not selling well, what exactly are you seeing?

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash being released in an unfinished state. Mario Tennis games from a decade ago had more content. Also Nintendo giving up on improving Star Fox and handing off to Platinum Games because their done with the Wii U. Showing Zelda U at E3 2014 and then NOTHING at E3 2015. Honestly Nintendo needed to support the Wii U for five years minimum to keep my respect. They should have dropped the game pad (Microsoft dropped the Kinnect) and made a inexpensive Wii U mini. The necessary game pad functions could have been patched so they would work like any other game, by opening a menu. Over priced DLC in Smash Bros is another one. Animal Crossing board games that require expensive toys to play.

I'm seeing an end to the Nintendo I grew up with and it's being replaced by a cash hungry monster that's losing interest in it's game quality.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Ok, but what has that to do with Sega and the Dreamcast?

I choose PS4 and Vita this generation and I have to say that I'm very satisfied. There are RPGs coming out basically every month like in the glory PS1/PS2 days. Now if only my most anticipated game for which I bought PS4 would have a release date it would be perfect.

Ah, SEGA. I was once a huge SEGA fan too. The Genesis was so fantastic. Then the SEGA CD came along. I added it to my 16 bit machine and had a FEW games to play on it. Then the 32 X add-on. Wow the graphics looked nice. A few more games and then no support for that. Then the Saturn came along. Maybe the add on route was wrong so I upgraded to the new console.  Wow, that didn't last long. Here comes the Dreamcast. A year and a half later, there goes the Dreamcast. Oops, there goes SEGA.

The Dreamcast was my favourite console of all time. For 18 months anyways. I was so heartbroken when SEGA stopped supporting it.

I blame SEGA for not being able to stay in a long term relationship.

So the WiiU was your favorite console until Nintendo decided to become greedy then?

I like it so far and don't regret my console purchases

Splatoon, Smash, 3d World, Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade X for Wii U

Awakening, RF4, Fantasy Life, Untold. ALBW and others for 3DS

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

So the WiiU was your favorite console until Nintendo decided to become greedy then?

The Wii U is my favorite Nintendo console right now. It's just not my primary console anymore. And I don't see the NX becoming my primary console if any of these rumors are true. We shall all find out in a few months at E3.

Never count Nintendo out, even when they are shooting themselves in the foot.
