Many these games also are in other consoles and PC

Even then I honestly like it that JRPG's are on more than just a single console/platform, though I'm not really the type that would love to see JRPG's dominate over Western RPG's as JRPG's encompass a few types whilst WRPG's have a variety of shapes and sizes.

So? You have Dark Souls 3, FF15, Xenoblade CX, Star Ocean 5, Ni Oh, Dragonquest 11, Neptunia, dragons dogma, monster hunter

how is it all not diverse?

If anything lacks diversity than its the western rpgs, when was the last time a western rpg had unique playble characters instead costumizable avatars? Witcher 3 is like the last one, everything else can only be found in JRPG

Anything Western to you lacks diversity, we've been through this song and dance for a good while now.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

That article was necessary because no one saw this coming even before the console was released.

We'll see. As far as I'm concerned quality > quantity and the quality of these can't be ascertained until they've actually released...

There are several already know frachises releasing new game, so the quality can be at least expected to be at some level, it's not definitive until they release, indeed, but it's not wrong to expect it based on prior games.

Sony is in form to take in great games but until Square heats things up I dont think everyone else will up the ante.Back in the days of the PS2 and PS1 games were cheaper to make and less companies had room to fail. So far I havent seem many genre defining JRPG's  until they've followed the western action RPG route.

If things keep going as they are that will be the case. I'm glad that the PS4 is doing so well. We're more likely to get ports this way.

If you follow DualShockers regularly, you probably know that we love JRPGs and Japanese games in general. While the genre may have become more niche since the glory years of the first PlayStation and of the PS2, even due to a relatively weak PS3 generation, things are looking up again.

The PlayStation 4 has quite a few JRPGs under its sleek black belt already, but the future is what really makes me smile. Below you can read a list (in no specific order) of most of the JRPGs coming to the console in the next several months. It’s by no means complete, because there are so many that some will inevitably be forgotten.

  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness
  • Persona 5
  • Tales of Berseria
  • Valkyria Chronicles Remastered
  • Valkyria: Azure Revolution
  • Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization
  • Black Rose Valkyrie
  • God Eater 2: Rage Burst
  • God Eater Resurrection
  • Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
  • Dragon Quest Heroes II
  • Dragon Quest XI
  • YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana
  • NieR: Automata
  • Nioh
  • Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • Summon Night 6: Lost Borders
  • World of Final Fantasy
  • I Am Setsuna
  • Atelier Sophie: Alchemist of the Mysterious Book
  • Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
  • Toukiden 2
  • God Wars: Toki wo Koete

Best jrpg of this gen (Xeno X) already on Wii U, so this list is irrelevant.

It's looking to be very good and defiantly an improvement of the somewhat of a JRPG disaster the PS3 was but matching the PS1/2 level will be tough.

Well, they could always make those games avalible for the PS4 (a console that doesn't have Chrono Trigger avalible in any way can't be considered a perfect JRPG machine), but in terms of original JRPGs, it's going to be tough. The market has changed too much and JRPGs don't have the pull they used to.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I'm hopeing we see more and more of the PS2 games released with trophy support and eventually a bunch of PS1 games to. I'm actually look as forward to new games release as much as I am for the PS1/2 games getting released for PS4 Dark Cloud 1/2 Arc the lad and Rogue Galaxy have been great so far but the key to the PS4 been a "Perfect JRPG machine" is on how many of the classics get the upscale and trophy treatment along with new stuff.

interesting article. And so many more in future. The good PS2-DAYS are back, its a dream for all gamer = )

Persona 5 and Ni No Kuni 2, oh my god - cant wait <3

Dragon Quest 11, Final Fantasy 15, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Nier 2, World of FF... so awesome.
