Forums - Movies & TV - Disney is unstoppable, Jungle Book tops 100 million Domestically First Weekend!

Watched the movie yesterday and sadly was German synchronization so the musical parts were pretty crap so I can't comment on that, the animations though I find were super awesome this is what I expect games to look like in ten years from now latest. The movie tried to hard to be like the animated cartoon but never really could catch that originals charms in my opinion (though that could be because of the terrible German sync). Overall I can't really say if I would recommend to watch or not but I can definitely recommend everyone to go watch the original movie! That's worth it!

I really really hate the animated one so I hope that I enjoy the live action one.

it's a LOT better.  More connected scene to scene and has less wasted time

*spoilers for those who haven't seen the new Star Wars movies*

Are you kidding with Star Wars? Disney is wondeful for animation but Star Wars? I don't care how unpopular this opinion is, but they took Star Wars and fucked it sideways. You don't take a franchise like that and "PC it up" for the sake of expanding demographics which is what they did. I don't want to hear it was an "artistic design". Let's be honest, the two demograpics that never cared for Star Wars on the whole were women and african americans. And wouldn't you know? As soon as Disney's suits gets the franchise, they're like "now how can we sell even MORE plastic light sabers... hmm... well, what if we put a female and black lead in the movie? DEMOGRAPICS!!!!"

And lets not EVEN get into the whole untrained, 20 year old female taking down a fucking SITH... without any training... at all. That right there was worse than ANYTHING Lucas did in the prequels... anything. My fiance and I watched it and at the end of the movie, she was like... "I don't get it. It took Luke three movies to take down Vader, getting his assed handed to him and yet this girl almost masters the force without trying". And she's not even into Star Wars that much lol.

The whole thing was a mess.

I realize you didn't care for it, but did you even SEE Star Wars Episode VII?  Honestly, I'm sick of people bitching about the fight scene at the end.

Case in point:

Example 1: IT was clear She was strong with the force.  They made that clear throughout the film and showed that her tenacity and intelligence made her learn quickly.

2 - It was Two on One.  Finn also fought and was a distraction

3 - Kylo did not WANT to kill her.  He wanted to take her in, to train her.  He had plenty of opportunity to kill her but he didn't, just like how Darth Vader didn't want to kill Luke.  They may have been enemies, but both held out hope the other would come to their side.  Luke wanted to turn Vader to the light, and Vader wanted to turn luke to the dark side.

4 - Kylo had just killed you-know-who, and the whole arch of his character was that he wasn't fully dark.  He was conflicted, inching toward the dark side but tempted by the light.  Killing That person may have released his anger, but there's no way it didn't affect him.

5 - Kylo had just been shot in the abdomen with a bowcaster, a weapon that was shown time and time again throughout the movie to be immensely powerful.  When Han used it to shoot a stormtrooper, either the stormtrooper was blasted backwards or tossed through the air.  Shoot the ground in front of a squad and they ALL splash out in different directions.  Kylo Ren took a blast from  this thing in his side.  He was severely weakened  and struggling against the pain of the injury through the whole fight.

So, to recap:  Kylo was conflicted, wounded, and up in a two-on-one fight against an opponent he didn't want to kill who was shown to be quite adept at force manipulation.  THAT is why it was an even match.

Chapter one in the JB Extended Universe?

Chapter 2 actually, or a prequel.
There already was a live action remake in 1994

Never watched it.

Spoiler alert, it wasn't good.

Sucks for Warner Bros. They just pushed back their own live action Jungle Book movie. Jungle Book Origins. Going to be harder to market that one after this turned out to be a smash hit.

Thank you for breaking it down in these points!!!  That is how I analysed the fight scene at the end too!!!  Well put!!!

I saw The Jungle Book on Friday and I loved it!! I'm happy to see it doing this well at the box office!!

Disney know how to make a basic movie that appeals to the general audience. I always find their kids movies to bevery overrated. Watched 3/4 of Inside Out and while it started very well, it got boring really quickly and yet it has a 98% on RT.

...Inside Out....Got Boring...

Yup, you officially suck at cinema.  There arent many movies I tend to aggressively protect or extol the virtues of, but Inside Out is one of them.  That movie is a modern classic, just like most Pixar movies.

If you didn't like it, or didn't think it was good, you can officially be laughed off this thread.  You have NO taste in film, and in regards to cinema you do not have one iota of my respect.   Normally, I'd say "WE all have our tastes", but this just makes me think that you're either an aggressive cynic or some sort of hipster contrarian looking for attention; either way your opinions are not worth respecting.

Psh.  Inside Out being boring.

Next you'll tell me that The Incredibles was terrible because it was derivative or that Toy Story was bad because it was about toys and therefore for kids.
