Amid rumors that Smash Bros and Mario Maker are being ported to the NX, will Nintendo have to tread carefully and allow Wii U owners to interact with the NX users online? I say this because these games are not very old. In fact, if the NX launches this year with Smash Bros and Mario Maker in 2016, both games will be two years old or less! Not every Wii U owner is going to buy the NX at launch. And for games like Mario Maker where the whole game relies on the online community, NX owners will have very little at the start while the Wii U community will sharply decline. Because of this, I think Nintendo needs to let both of these games connect with each other in some way until the NX has a considerable userbase where supporting both is too excessive. However this will take at least two to three years. And that is if the NX is able to sell much better than the past three Nintendo consoles (excluding the Wii)!
What are you thoughts? If these two games are ported, should Nintendo allow the Wii U and NX online community to interact with each other?
