Forums - Movies & TV - How do you think Ratchet and Clank (film) will perform at the box office?

I'd say it won't be doing more than 50-60 million WW

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Didn't realize it was so soon! :O, I don't know much about the movie industry, so my opinion has 0 importance, but since I like to see myself heard/have attention on me, i'll just guess it'll gross enough to break even. and slightly a bit more to make a small profit. I think Sony see's the movie as more of a advertising tool for the game. I think they plan on making this a big franchise, so they want to have movies/Shows/Apps/etc

PSn - greencactaur
Nintendo Switch FC - SW - 5152 - 6393 - 5140 Please feel free to add me :)

I've actually seen alot of advertising for it, but it's not out in Australia until like June or July.

Are you sure you're seeing advertising for the movie and not the game? Since it's not coming out in Australasia until June or July, but the game is coming out in a few weeks I would have thought all adversiting would be game focussed not movie focussed.

I love R&C, and played the crap out of it when I was in middle school, but I don't think I'm going to bring my 27 year old ass into the movies theater to see this.

What I mean is that I don't think nostalgia/existing fans are going to push this. It may as well be a new IP, so it could go either way. If I HAD to make a guess....I don't think it will perform well.

You probably wouldn't go and see a Pixar, or even a Disney film in the theatre either.

These kind of films are usually for kids - or adults that will check it out on video.

Well I'll probably be taking my >45 year old ass to the movie. So don't use age as an excuse.

I am expecting about $15 million opening week worldwide, and $30 million lifetime gross, similar to something like the original Street Fighter movie. Personally, I am hoping it does better, as I do like the franchise.

Niche video game movies don't do so well though. I had high hopes for Wing Commander back in the day, and it only made about $11 million.

It's 10 days from release and, not really a surprise, no reviews are up on Rotten Tomatoes yet. At what point prior to release, do you think, it would be time to worry that the reviews are bad if there are still no reviews on Rotten Tomatoes? If there is a review embargo until after the movie releases I think it will be a bad sign. There seems to be not much marketing for the movie, and the only way to generate hype pre-release with a low marketing budget is if the reviews are good and that creates a buzz.

I think if we aren't seeing reviews at about 5 days out, it probably means critics who have watched the movie pre-release didn't like it. And that probably means bad times for the movie.
