Forums - Movies & TV - How do you think Ratchet and Clank (film) will perform at the box office?

Not as well as the game seems to be doing.
I still think it ll net them a good chunk of profit though.

Haven't plaed a R&C game since the original.  It was great but I just had other series to play.  The newest one looks really good, though.  I've bought games immediately after seeing a movie and still being hyped.  Maybe I'll play the game and immediately be hyped for the movie!

I hope it will be a sleeper hit like until dawn, but I fear it will be a flop at cinemas and dvd/blu ray, perhaps it will sell decently on UHD Blu Ray as reference material.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

lol, I didn't think about this.

I would love for it to succeed. I guess they're smart enough to not waste their budget on the general masses when its unlikely to ever be a massive hit  like a Pixar/Dreamworks film.

If you lean towards YouTube content where the primary audience is 8-12 you'll also see Ratchet ads all over the place, I've noticed. (usually) kid friendly YouTube channels like The Completionist get a lot of Ratchet ad buys.

They're apparently doing a really good job of marketing for once, just not to the audience that posts on forums and arbitrarily predicts performances.

Or adults in general ;)

Not enough marketing to what?

To anything. Nobody knows it exists. If you weren't a gamer, you wouldn't know either. In fact, a lot of gamers don't even know about the game coming out. That's not conducive to performing well at the box office. It will likely be an awesome movie, but it will definitely not perform well, at least not initially. The only chance it has is that the movie gets good word of mouth after the first wave of people see it, and Sony capitalizes on that.

Capitalizes on it with marketing. Which probably won't happen.

Soooo.... zero bucks at the box office, given that nobody knows it exists?

Seriously, give your prediction, then we can have a proper discussion.

I go to the movies a lot and I haven't seen on trailer for this movie. With that said I'll be taking my daughter to go see it.

I was at the theater waiting for BvS to start and the trailer for R&C came on. To be honest, the thing look stupid and boring. A family that was next to us were commenting on what the hell was that and the lady was like "We'll take the kids to watch the Jungle Book" which kind of tells you that 1) Sony failed to advertise this movie, 2) the audience are just the people that played the game which in reality is a small population and 3) I wouldn't even watch it because it look sooooooooo boring and as a former fan of the franchise, there as just way better animated movies out there from Pixar to even consider wasting my money watching this.

This movie will do a total tickets sale of $10 mil max.

Me 30 and my son 3 will be going to see it.

Hoho, you wanna make a bet on that?

I forgot about The Jungle Book! Uh, oh. Sandwiched between two guaranteed huge blockbusters...

I know "Daddy's Home" did well with those who didn't care for Star Wars, that Sister movie did well with those who aren't up for Deadpool, and Greek Wedding 2/The Boss are vying for the dollar of people skipping BvS but between The Jungle Book and Captain America, there isn't much room for anybody else to thrive.

I think it will do fine, but not rake in nearly as much as a DreamWorks or Pixar film. I wish they picked a different week though. Too many big movies are coming out around that time.
