Forums - Movies & TV - 'Captain America: Civil War' Review Thread - 90% RT/75 MC score - WW BO = $991.0M/DOM = $314.2M

Update: Civil War has estimated t to have made 75 million in its opening day. That's less than Batman v Superman but more than Iron Man 3. As stands my theory is coming true

Saw it. It's one of the finest movies in MCU so far just edging out its predecessor. Winter Soldier was my best so far and this just surpasses it. The Russos are spot on. I wished BvS was just as good as this.

Nice rankings Runa. I still prefer a few of the ones below AoU, ahead of it though.

It is now projected to make less in the opening week in the US than originally projected. From $210M to $180M.

Projections got out of hand as the hype built up. I still feel like it might end up being closer to $200M when actuals come in. We'll see how much of an effect mothers day might have. My original predictions were $180M and 90% RT so anything above that is all gravy. It's the legs and WOM that will matter most.

It's not exactly a great movie. It has its moments. Those climactic scenes really gave those goosebumps. I would put it somewhere between Avengers fun and Winter Soldier drama.

I just saw it and I loved it. Given all they had on their plate the Russos handled it as well as I could have expected. If it is not for some, that's fine, but this had a bit of everything I wanted and I FINALLY got the Spider-Man I wanted. Very happy, will watch it many many times.

I saw it last night and I thought it was amazing. They did a really good job at giving each character their own great moments.

I think the hype got to the head of the specialists and they overshot the initial predictions. I believe they were fearing they would underpredict as they always seen to underpredict and overshot it instead.

The movie is awesome and it has an A cinema score, a masive opening day on China, great international reception and Box Office, its more than likely going to have excelent legs.

Given the awesome word of mouth, great reception, and the fact that it has Iron Man in it, I have no doubt it'll cross a billion.

Before all this talk of a 200 million or more opening weekend, I had it between 180-185.  Higher than Iron Man 3, lower than Age of Ultron.  I think its domestic AND international takes are going to be between Iron Man 3 and Age of Ultron.  I'd be happy if it beat Age of Ultron, though.  It's a better movie.  (though I loved Age of Ultron too.)

BoxOfficeMojo haven't updated their international grosses but it should be at around 650-700M WW by the time weekend estimates and international numbers are in. It's going to be a tight race to AoU WW numbers.

PS4/PS3/PC/3DS Owner (Will buy a Switch when mainline Pokemon game is released)

In so many countries these kind of movies break records and do damn fine and then I look at my country Germany and superhero movies can be happy to even reach the top 100 of opening weekends or all time box office numbers lol

I watched it last night. I didn't like it but I didn't hate it very much either like I hated the previous Avengers.

4 or 5 out of 10. I wonder if I should BvS hmmm.
