Forums - Gaming Discussion - So where does Dark Souls 3 fall?

I haven't played it yet buy i'm curious where it falls between Demon Soul, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne.

Around the Network

To me it's:

1. Dark souls 1
2. Dark souls 3
3. Demons souls
4. Bloodborne
5. Dark souls 2

I haven't played enough DS3 yet but atm thinking it's around the same as BloodBorne

Haven't finished yet, but it's ahead of BB for me and that ranking was:

DS1 > DeS=DS2 >> BB.

DS3 is way fucking harder than BB.

Do you mean in regards to difficulty or how fun the game is?

Only 17 hours in. As of right now, it is my favorite. The combat has evolved nicly, the battle arts add yet another layer of depth to it. The lore is really rich and well told through interesting NPCs ( Something that DS2 lacked imo). Many impactful and very emotional story elements are connected to directly DS1 and its DLC. Good stuff all around. Edit: Also, Ornstein & Smough boss fight from DS1 was just dethroned as my favorite boss fight of all time..

Dark Souls 3

Dark Souls 1

Bloodborne

Dark Souls 2

Demon's Souls

It feels like bloodborne 2.0 like literally take away the sun and sheilds and u have bloodborne. The environments especially feel BBish everything is so "dead and grim". (note im only up to farron keep)

I guess thats not a bad thing its just weird is all but either way its a souls game so its fun as hell.

For me it would be something like this:

Dark Souls 1 - Demon Souls (Yeah both on the same spot.)

Dark Souls 3

Bloodborne

Dark Souls 2

I'm at the halfway point and I clocked in 16 hours. It looks like the shortest Souls game yet. It's also the easiest (so far).

Dark Souls 1

Demon's Souls

Bloodborne

Dark Souls 2

Still need to play DaS3

16 hours later, I'm experience frustration and reward on the same dose, like a nostalgic trip to when the Undead took his first steps out of the prison (or, if you might, when that looter meet his dead and the Nexus trapped his soul :P). It's definitively an enjoyable, full of misteries and exploration affair, and I'll be honest, I'm downright loving every second of it, aside from some specific parts.

The dungeon design is great, as always. It suffers a bit from a "been there done that" segments, but that's something that it is bound to happen when you've already come up with four previous games with exemplary dungeon design.

Also, talking about nostalgic trips, this game cashes in nostalgia more than I thought. I've chuckled sometimes for certain things I've stumble upon. It's awesome.

As for where should it fall, this would be how I'd put them (from best to worst):

· Dark Souls 1

· Demon's Souls

· Dark Souls 3

· Bloodborne

· Dark Souls 2
