Forums - Sony Discussion - Anybody play the new Ratchet and Clank yet?

only thing i would like someone to confirm for me is whether the game runs at 60fps like previous games. played the demo, and really wasn't fond of the lesser fps.

It's a completely (as in I tried breaking it and couldn't completely) solid 30fps. They've said since day one that it'd be 30 - that's just what their engine is optimized for now. I don't think this game WOULDN'T drop frames left and right at 60, because they throw more stuff on screen than every other game in the series.

Played for about an hour. It's like a greatest hits of features from past games. The upgrade system is like ACiT (raritanium in a grid) I'm just hoping the weapons have just 5 levels as that's the medium I like rather than tons of levels or too little. It also mixes in the platforming great like ACiT. Haven't gotten to many of the awesome features yes I'm sure but the writing could teach Disney a few lesson with clean yet hilarious humor and great in-jokes.

I think you're thinking of ToD or ItN. CiT has Constructo Mods for the basic three weapons (shotgun, bomb glove, blaster) instead of Raritanium Mods for every weapon.

OT: I Platinumed it.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Playing it with my 3 year old son and he loves it! Seems like family games are rare nowadays - but glad I can play this with him.

I will be picking it up probably in June cause I have a heavy backlog to get through and Uncharted 4 is in May. I honestly can't wait, it will be one of the only games I look forward to platinum

I played the original trilogy last year and fell in love with it all over again. I'm hoping and praying good sales and future sequel will inspire sony to give Jak and Daxter the same treatment.

Its the first game i'll get after I complete the 3 i'm playing right now.

Got it pre-ordered. Like the rest of the Eu region it comes out on the 20th. Will be coming by mail and the site I bought from can be highly variable in delivery. Sometimes games get delivered on day of release, sometimes 10+ days after release even if you pre-ordered.

ACiT didn't have the raritanium in a grid system

I'm guessing this has the system from Into the Nexus, which is somewhat similar to the system in ToD, but much better.

I am playing it right now, and it's fantastic.

I had to get used to the 30fps, but it's pretty locked at that framerate and they've implemented just the right amount of motion blur so it's not bad at all. It's just a departure from what I'm used to with the series. Not a deal breaker.

Visually, the game is stunning! Everything has been crafted with care and it showcases some of the best visuals on the PS4 so far. There are some aliasing on thinner details, so a better AA solution would have been preferable, but it's not that distracting. You notice that it's there, but you forget about it quickly because of how great the rest looks.

The writing is actually quite good and I had a few laughs already, yet I've barely just started playing. That's a good sign! =)

From a gameplay perspective, this is basically the culmination of what Insomniac has learned from making these games, polished to a new level. Very fun and addictive gameplay.

If you're a PS4 owner, this one is a no-brainer. Now I can't wait for the movie to come out. If it's as well written and funny as the game, me and my son are going to have a blast! =)

EDIT: How could I forget to mention the sounds and music! The compositions are simply awesome! I stopped for a bit earlier, thinking to myself "What am I hearing right now! This is really good!" I am currently playing the game using my PS Pulse Elite headset, and everything sounds amazing. On par with the visuals, I'd say!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying it. I'm trying my best to hold out a month or so before I pick it up.

Just finished it today, and wow, what a game! Easily my fav PS4 of the year so far.

It's my first Ratchet and Clank game, and boy was I impressed. Very clever storytelling, great gameplay mechanics, and stunning visuals. Even though I had never played a Ratchet and Clank before, it still reminded me so much of the glory days of the 6th gen. Just fantastic.

great game, didnt like the last few levels, but overall its a good game, cheap price too
