I have a capable PC and a 3DS. Any other 8 gen console would be waste of money

No, I have a 3DS and I also play on PC (emulators and games purchased on Steam), although I don´t play on it as frequently as on the 3DS and WiiU.
I really really wanted to buy a PS4, but too expensive for me now. My nieces and nephews have PS3/Xbox360 so when I want a change of pace on my gaming habits, we switch consoles.

Well like i have said to you many times, you arent taking into consideration the potential for people who own neither a 3DS or Wii U to purchase one form of NX if it is indeed a unified setup.

It is very possible that somebody may be interested in a few 3DS games and a few Wii U games but arent willing to spend money on either device just for a few games, however these people may be more willing to buy a single device if it can play all of those games.

And again you arent taking into account the potential for Nintendo to diversify their library and make new IP at a faster rate. Splatoon was a big deal because it was a heavily marketed new IP in a new gente for Nintendo, instead of this being a once in a generation type of event we could potentially get multiple games like that.

And you arent talking into account that these devices could potentially recieve better support. 3DS didnt support Unity for the majority of its life and Wii U doesnt have Unreal 4 support, if NX supports both than its possible that 3rd parties will support it more.

And another thing that you arent taking into account are various potential improvements to system features such as no region locking, improved online services, cross buy/play/save, increased multimedia features, etc.

There are alot of potential things that can get non-3DS/Wii U owners to purchase an NX, nobody is simply saying that combining handhelds & consoles into a single family will fix all of Nintendo's problems or that alone will tremendously increase their sales, obviously there are other things they need to fix and improve on.

Well that's all fine and dandy, and you're right all of those things could potentially lead to bigger sales. But, you aren't taking into account that all of the latest rumors point to the NX handheld as not even existing, and the NX home that we have heard about appears to be nothing more than a Wii U 2 that's slightly  more powerful than aPS4 with the same expensive Wii U controller. To be honest, that might work if the timing weren't so horrifically bad.

But that's neither here nor there. This isn't a conversation for this thread.

"this would further cement the idea that if the NX is two platforms that play the same games that it would actually lead to a decrease in combinedhardware sales"

you were taking about a hypothetical unified platform so current rumors arent really relevant to that idea. But you are right, this is getting off topic.

For those of you who have a Wii U, is it currently the only gaming platform you own, or do you also have a 3DS, a PS4, an Xbox One, a gaming PC, etc?

I have a Wii U and Xbox one but my Wii is by far my lead platform. I have more games and fun on my Wii u at the moment. I start to have that bleh feeling with the 3rd party games

I have a Wii U, a 3DS and a PS4, the last two being used veeeeery little, Wii U is by far the one where I spend more time. That being said, I don't understand why some people think that those who only have Wii U are having a poor generation. They are loosing some things? Sure. As PS4 only are. Or Xbox One Only. Or PC only. And you don't see anyone (almost) shitting on them.

Unless you have a lot of money and/or can waste your entire freetime on videogames, you have to choose which kind of games have priority on you and which ones you can afford to miss. And none of these choices must be seen as incorrect, better or worse than another (having only a PS4 is great; having only a Wii U is awful), because is something entirely personal.

I have a 3DS to go with my Wii U but I don't use it much.

I have a Vita collecting dust and a 3DS which gets most of my gaming time. There are a few games that I'd like to play on PS4/XBone, but not enough to justify the price. At this point, I'd rather wait to see if the NX gets third party support. If so, I'll have no need for other home consoles.

Wii U is my primary home console
New 3DS for on-the-go

then i also have a tablet for mobile gaming, an Xbox One for if i ever want a more hardcore game, a PC for indie games, and a tn of other old consoles i refuse to give up

I feel sorry for anyone that said yes, lol. Go out in the ocean sometime.

Why do you feel sorry for these people? Between my Wii U and my 3DS, I have way more games than I ever have time to play. Between a full-time job, a social life with friends and dating and an active and healthy lifestyle that keeps me in the gym, games come out faster than I can play them, even on near-dead consoles like those. Perhaps if more people were to "go out into the ocean" of life sometime, they'd know what I mean.

Because strictly gaming related, they're missing out on high-quality games? I'm guessing that I indirectly offended you lol. I have a busy life too ya know.

Man I don't have like 80% of that stuff and I can't even make time to get through FE Fates. At the rate I'm going, I may finish Conquest by June if no other new releases distract me.

Dunno how some of you guys do it.
