Forums - Movies & TV - Standalone Batman film confirmed, will be directed by and star Ben Affleck

This is great news and should help solidify the DCEU.
I hope this isn't the start of a stand alone trilogy, however. I think two solo movies will be plenty sufficient as he'll supposedly be making appearances in all the other movies.

I will say what may be an unpopular opinion, but I hope the movie isn't solely focused on the Joker. At least have some other enemies not as often explored or who've never seen the big screen at all.

I would prefer a Hush focused storyline, or even The Court of Owls. Heck, I'd be down for a more loyal take on Ra's al Ghul.

I really don't know if I can watch another Batman after Nolan trilogy with Christian Bale.

They were that bad huh?...

All right Batffleck you won me over last time, let's see what else you have in your utility belt to surprise me with ;)
Looking forward to it.

I never thought I would look foward to a Batman movie with Ben Affleck as the protagonist, but he did a great job in Batman V Superman.

Liked the second one, the first and third had terrible pacing issues, villains that more or less show up for a few minutes and are never fleshes out (even Scarecrow's multiple appearances never really put him at the forefront of any story), Bane becoming a thug yet again to Talia Al Ghul and being more or less incomprehensable when he speaks, the whole bomb angle as the major threat in the third film was pretty lame compared to the first two films, Chris Bale's Batman voice was pretty terrible, the character of Bruce Wayne was not really fleshed out, his whole medical problems that get magically better when he rests on a cot in a underground dungeon was weak, the constant referencing to his one rule of not killing is not really satisfying when he basically killed Ras and outright killed Two Face. They were good, but the epitome of Batman they are not.

I was one of the many who was fuming mad he was casted.
I am very happy to eat crow. Although, we still need to see him in this stand alone before claiming he's the best or worst ever.

Don't forget, people dogged Ledger for being cast as the Joker also and people doubt his performance will ever be matched.

I love all 3 of them and IMO hardly any new Batman movie can topped them.

That's what people said about the 89 Batman with Michael Keaton.

I hope they stay with the 20 year vet Batman and don't try to go back to an origin or in his younger days.
Affleck is perfect for an older version of both Bruce and the Bat as was shown in BvS. I hope they stay on that route because it'll work.

We saw the early Batman stories with Batman Begins and TDK. I'm good for a while ha.

Edit: I'm reading this story right now on Afflecks bat if anyone else wants to read: http://www.batman-online.com/features/2016/4/12/batmans-new-dawn#sthash.nQJBmL1a.dpbs
