Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Uncharted 4 the first game that looks better than real life?

I understand what you're saying, and they're getting really close.  But, I can think of a handful of images that I find more visually stimulating:

I could go on and on, but yeah, Uncharted is looking extraordinary :)

Thanks for the new wallpaper, sucker!

The plan worked, Turkish. We got what we came for.

Nothing can be more realistic than reality, even the best CGI used in Hollywood can't achieve that.

If I remember correct the cameras on cinema filming are 4K resolution , so I don't think we are there yet.

Arri digital cameras are capable of 6K resolution. And the old school 70mm film is capable of something in the order of 20K resolution (that's why directors like Nolan and JJ Abrams prefer to use film).

It looks better than the view from my window atm, drab brown, nothing really growing yet, most games do. Looking out the window gets kinda boring after a while.

Many things can look better than real life, an artist rendition of Niagara falls without the tourists and casinos around for example, or simply a carefully framed picture. The real thing was a bit of a meh experience.

Even though its beautiful, I feel like the true beauty of nature trumps game visuals any day and it will always be the case

This.

Games are CREATED. BY DESIGN. They can take something "real" and make it "more aesthetically pleasing", but that doesn't mean it ACTUALLY looks better.

Some of these comments make me worry for our future, especially with VR on the rise... Mark Zuckerberg, walking through a room with THOUSANDS of people in a fake world... CREEPY. Do some people really WANT to live in a fake, artificial, unnatural world than the real one? Are you kidding me? Go out and see the actual world; it's more beautiful than you give it credit for. It only becomes shitty if we fuck it up.

This is for Racing games

Though jesus christ. This graphics is scary.

Why not have both. Until teleportation is invented most of those pretty vistas are pretty damn hard to reach in real life. A VR experience of fake climing mount Everest, why not. Won't be doing the real thing ever, so why not watch movies and documentaries instead and VR in the future.

That's one of the reasons to play games, to get lost in a virtual world. So yes, people have been wanting to live in a fake, artifical, unnatural world since the first rpg or text adventure game, for a limited time of course.

Going on a luxury holiday to a perfect white sand tropical beach paradise beats all that hands down. Can't really do that for an hour every night though, unless you work there. Not that I'm complaining about where I live, beautiful in summer and winter snow, not so much in between. Uncharted 4 looks better than taking a walk through the muddy thawing brown forest. Although it will be warm and green by the time it comes out. Luckily it's still dark at night, Uncharted 4 will be a welcome evening distraction.

Ugh hurry up with teleportation, I wouldn't mind teleporting to a nice warm beach on the day side of the planet for a couple hours :)

Those specific gifs look nice, but watching the entire trailer just now ... it still very obviously looked like a "video game" so, no.
