If the only advantage the ps4k has is that it's slimmer and plays 4k movies I'm sure most of the 40 million users including myself won't care too much.

Its like on a PC, you can buy a mid level graphics card and play at medium settings, or a high end one and play at higher res and graphic settings.

No one suffers for it, they play the same games, that look great on both.

 

You arnt forced to buy the "better" graphics card, if you dont want too.

Same thing here, you arnt forced to buy the PS4k.

I'm mostly interested cause it'll hopefully allow me to play 4K movies on it since I plan on getting a 4K Samsung in a month or two. Don't care about playing games in 4K at all as the frame rate would most likely suck balls at that resolution.

But yes, really looking forward to 4K movie playback.

No it won't screw over anyone, the original ps4 will be 3 years old when this comes out, and as long as the original ps4's still get to play the games then it's fine.

What about Nintendo screwing over wiiu owners by releasing an entirely new console and dropping support for the wiiu after 4 years? Surely that's much worse lol.

I honestly have no idea why would anyone feel screwed over, if only thing that PS4K does (game-wise) is render the same PS4 games in slightly higher res - my bet is PS4 will still be the main platform for Sony until PS5.

If the rumours about 2xGPU are true, I would assume 1920x2160 anamorphic, with good built in upscaler, since 2xGPU is not enough for native 2160p. This would allow for higher res and slightly higher visual settings, but that's about it.
