I bought Magna Carta 2 right before Mass Effect 2 came out. I couldn't stop playing MC2 so Mass Effect just sat there gathering dust. It was crazy but I was hooked. The ONLY reason I bought Magna Carta was because of the box art. Didn't expect to like it.

Heh. I bought it too because of the box art, but I haven't played it yet.

Probably Tomb Raider (the reboot or whatever). I picked it up for five bucks because it had stuff about it that sounded interesting, and I thought I'd give it a shot. Ended up COMPLETELY LOVING it. Spent loads of time 100%ing it. Now I'm extremely excited for the day I get to play the next one.

Dragons Dogma, tried the demo thought it was okish. Bought the dlc edition when it was in sale on PSN and couldn't put it down for the next 4 months.

I can understand people not liking it but, for me, that was one of the absolute best games of last gen! It came out of nowhere. Found myself sneaking out of bed at night just to play it.

FFVII. The only reason I bought that game bck in the day was bcus I saw a big poster with cloud staring at the shinra blding and I thought that sword looked bad ass! I had never played a FF game b4 that. I was hooked!!

Two examples:

First, Xenoblade Chronicles. Thought it would be a neat game, I hadn't played many JRPGs before it. But I had just come off of LOVING Chrono Trigger (another game I didn't realize I would fall in love with) and figured why not. Turned out to be my favorite Wii Game by a mile and one of my absolute favorite games of the entire 7th Gen.

Second, Mount&Blade. Bought this game on a whim cause it sounded neat and was dirt cheap. Wound up pouring hundreds of hours into it, both the vanilla version and some modded versions. Also, incidentally, this is an example of a game that I love that I openly admit isn't all that good in a critical sense. I wouldn't give it a single point over 6 out of 10. But I love it. And I think that's a concept that a lot of people need to embrace :P

Demons Souls was exactly that for me, i bought it along with Dark Souls and i wanted to play it because i was curious, but the truth is i just wanted to jump into Dark Souls and skip DeS since i thought i was gonna enjoy DkS much more, and it ended up being the other way arround.

Splatoon

..and Pokemon Picross

That has to be Mass Effect 2 and 3, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. I think that the biggest surprise was Mass Effect 2 since I thought I was gonna hate its guts, but it was the contrary.

Yes, two recent games are Dragon's Dogma and Hyrule Warriors

Witcher 2. Didn't expect to like it but it was free a few weeks ago and now i think its a great game.
