I only have a third of my original erection for this game now...two thirds limp.

That's a disturbing image.

This is horrible! I hate these episodic games and I will never buy them :)

It's not episodic, they are claiming they are taking a game which was originally 1 whole game in 1 purchase, splitting it up into parts and selling it as 3 'full' games, no doubt at $60 each, when they make their 'improvements'.

SE seem to think FF13 was 1 game in 3 parts, when we all know it was 1 game with 2 sequels.

Hmm, pie.

This game should be one game like the original! With this they just want to milk the gamers, as DLC's are not bad enough, now they start making this episodic shit ;)

Lol @ FF7R in 2017 when they're still not done with KH3.

Part 1 of FF7R (1/3 of the whole game)

Cyber Connect are also helping out in developement, I don't think its out of the question.

Part 1 is a full sized game. Saying it's 1/3 of the game doesn't mean anything. It's totally out of the question.

A full sized game with 1/3 the locations, monsters and characters of a typical entry, most likely much shorter too. A 3-4 year developement Cycle and 2 teams working on it, using an established efficient engine in UE4.  And its a  remake with most of the world, characters and scenarios already written on paper. Time will tell...... I think we'll see it between fall 2017-18. If they wanted to release it in 2017 I think they could make it happen.

By the way, Final Fantasy XIII-2 was not even half the length of XIII, yet both were "Full sized" games, so that term doesn't actually mean anything.

I've been wondering. I don't really like this remake nature, nor the lack of info to make a proper opinion about it (but everything seems negative so far). I really don't understand why there are three parts, BUT, if one of those parts turn out to be Advent Children in a videogame, playable form, then I'd find this whole issue a bit more enticing.

But this isn't related to KH3, and this is an expontentially higher priority than a KH game.

Hardly seems like a remake if they have to divide it up.

And since when was FF13 in 3 parts? It was FF13, then 2 sequels no one bought.

I think this mindset is why a lot of people are confused. All three of those games make up the FF13 story.

It's going to take 3 games to tell the Final Fantasy VII story. They're going to have a lot new things to do that wasn't in the original, and in addition to that, they'll be incoporating things from all of the FF7 media into the remake.

Except The Witcher 3 was 200+ hours long, and it was all on one disc. I think you're underestimating exactly how much disc space these new Blu-Rays can carry as opposed to the, mind you, not even DVDs, but mere CD-ROMs of the PS1 era. Each individual part of FFVIIR could certainly fit on a single disc.

Length isn't really a factor, its more about art assets. I haven't played Witcher 3 so I could be wrong but much of its world is probably quite generic compared Final Fantasy VII which goes from one area which is grungy, steampunk inspired Sci-Fi, Another which is like a modern day harbour and then another which is like a Rural Japanese village. Its probably a lot easier for the Witcher 3 team to reuse and repurpse assets then it would be for Final Fantasy VII. CGI cutscenes are still a part of the FF franchise aswell.

Not saying its impossible to fit it on one disc but by default I'd expect it to be bigger then any western RPG we've seen this gen. Final Fantasy XIII took up 3 discs on 360, whereas Skyrim and Fallout all fitted nicely on one.
