So final fantasy XV can go all the way, I was expecting phantom pain to hit 10 million end of Aug, 8 million at least, FF has always been bigger so if MG can achieve 7-8 M then FF can
Still think 8M is a safer bit first year
It's good thing they decided on Sep release
Great article, I enjoyed reading

Metal Gear Solid has never been a 10 million seller in the past. Mainline games in the past (MGS1 & 2) have fallen short of 6 million (Excluding re-released versions), MGS 3 only just hit 4m and MGS4 took a good few years to get to 6m. MGS5 sales were very front loaded and the game has just hit 6m (On 5 platforms). Was a good idea to go multiplatform but it shows the series has a solid fanbase and enjoys similar sales with each installment.

I think it 100% depends on the review. The wait has made a lot of ppl eager to play this, even ppl who had abandoned the series awhile ago. If the reviews come in and its in the 90s range itll fly off the shelfs and go over 10M easily, if its anywhere around 80 or lower itll never reach the 10M Square wants it to.

Agree, like I said above, it will need a better than average review score and technical performance for any of those sales numbers to happen. Should the game have technical issues and poor reviews then 6m or under is likely.

Holy shit, i've been on this forum since the dawn of time and I didn't know Zhuge was here. lol.

Hello!

I don't post much here tbh. Mainly to hear peoples thoughts on sales etc... :) I follow all major websites where sales discussion takes place.

Estimations:
7M on PS4
1M on XBO
1.5M on PC

Type-0 HD sales ratio was like ~85:15 for PS4 wasn't it.

Btw, the 30,000 limited editions for EU took longer to sell out because 1. the Uncovered Event ended at like 5AM 2. the EU store wasn't updated until 6 hours later yet it was still down most of the time due to overload of people trying to buy it. I was one of them.

Yes, the XB1 version won't do much more than 1 million should the game be successful. It will be the PS4 version where most sales come from. I can see PC and XB1 selling in close to similar numbers.

Thanks for clarification on the pre orders.

I was really blown away by the reveal and the different locations, the environment art was just fantastic. After playing the demo, the combat wasn't really all I thought it would be but I will still get it day 1.
It will be my first FF game....

I really hope that people give the game a chance and people like me try it out.
Would love to see it sell above 9M, 10 would be fantastic obviously but Zhuge knows his stuff...
8 Million is still impressive.

I only know my stuff when it comes to past or present sales performance.

There is no way I can possibly be 100% accurate when it comes to forecasting so don't assume that just because I say it can sell X that it will actually say X.

I'm no more good at forecasting than anyone else and there are others here who will probably end up more accurate than me.

Around the Network

Great article. And yes, I think first year sales should be around 8m across PS4 and Xbox One, but I'm sure it will eventually cross the 10m mark, unless a major problem happens prior to the game's launch.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
