I think it's been obvious for a while now but very seldom mention it because it's an unpopular opinion.

That was the case since the beggining. Nintendo was not going to produce a lot more. It was risky.

Lolwut? The Japanese version of SOV was censored by the west? I think you need to realize that the west can't and doesn't force SE to censor anything. They make those decisions themselves. So yeah, it's actually SE being "greedy" because they think they can get more sales in the west by censoring. So blame "greedy" SE that doesn't respect their artists and their work, not the west

TQ, they explicitly said that they had to change things because they didn't want to get backlash from the West. It's literal self-censorship. 
Of course, there was also a lot of backlash online and a lot of anger directed at general foreigners.
