Forums - General Discussion - My sibling got into Princeton

April fools can really suck. I remember when Gmail was announced with 1 GB of free space...everyone thought it was fake because it was announced on April 1st, and since hotmail only offered like 30 MB of free space...

Anyhow, I'm glad. Current acceptance rate is only 6.5%. take him out to a nice restaurant and enjoy it. :)

I hope he has a scholarship though...what prevents many people from entering top-league schools is the cost. Hopefully he can find a way to pay it off and get a great career.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Woo? This is a video game sales site, we don't care.

Don't be a prick, lol.

Even though we're gamers, we still are nice enough to care about others(and pay attention to serious issues in the world)

Actually getting into Princeton is not that great of feat. Anybody can get in with big enough check. And actually the quality of education there is not that much greater than state ran school. But Princeton does play a great PR game. A recent study actually found that Princeton and all other "ivy league" school have worse ROI than state run school and you pay more to go to school where the rich and famous go.

nice! I grew up in Princeton. Great town, great school (don't listen to the people above). Make sure your sibling goes to Hoagie Haven.

Hi

Not to throw water over the celebration, but if you live in the center of the US, and in the middle or lowercase, it isn't that hard to get into those universities as long as you have above average ACT/SAT scores. They are required by law to accept a cross section of students. It's the lesser known part of the affirmative action laws since it doesn't apply to race or gender, but wealth and social status. I was accepted onto MIT because of this. (And another reason but that reason is why they ran my application with out ever formally applying.

Its one of the  "premier" (ivy league) colleges in the USA, it's normally hard to get into unless you fall under the affirmative action laws. Race, gender, social status, state of origin etc, then it is a lot easier to get into the more "minority" you get. I wouldn't know the Swedish analog of it but in the UK it would be like getting into Cambridge.

Congrats to you and your sibling.
But it just makes me think about how I almost got into MIT. But will try again so wish me luck

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also
