If 3DS is a console, so is an iPhone. There AREN'T any more "dedicated" consoles. They're all multipurpose computers that allow for a multitude of things. The iPhone can do more things, but exactly how does that mean it isn't a "console"? Is there some magic limit of things a machine can do that pushes it out of the "console" discussion?
Not even ten years ago, no one online ever lumped handhelds and consoles together. Now, it seems the younger ones want to do that for some reason... which is fine. But if you're going to do that, you can't leave out smart phones which are every bit the gaming machine that a handheld is and more. If a 3DS is now considred a "console" like the PS4, then so is the iPhone.

So, you are one of those persons that don't like Console ?, Consoles are Dedicated Video Game Device, they can do a lot of things, but are not their main propose, they are made to Play Games, look how much Quality, and High Budget games are made for those Consoles, people invest in it for Games, Developers know this so they invest their time and resourse to make games for those machines, try to sell some game for 40US$, on a Phone, the game would die without a single download, because of that Every single Mobile Game, is a Free to Play focused on Microtransactions, the Market is for people that Don't Play video game, because of that everything must be free, People Mainly purchase a Iphone, for Status, Social Midia, and other things, not for Games, Iphone, is a Multi-midia, and Multi-function Device.
So, if we have more Phones in the World than Citzens, why the Mobile Gaming Market only worth less than 30 Billions ?, Why even with 500 Millions of Users, Candy Crush, only make less than 1.5 Billions per Year ?, with 60 Millions of Users, GTA V, made more than 4-5 Billions of US$, this is the difference between Dedicated Devices, and Multi-function Devices, people don't purchase Phones for Games, but people do purchase Consoles, for Games.
