Forums - Sony Discussion - If Uncharted 4 fails, should Sony shutter 90% of their 1st party?

It seems to me that fewer and fewer exclusives are seeing success and Sony's 1st party are getting a hammering critically. Between Drive Club, Killzone, Knack and Infamous SS, critical response was well down on the PS3 era. 

 

If Uncharted 4 does not score well above 90% and also sell very well, should Sony shutter or cut loose: Naughty Dog, San Diego Studio, Sony Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Bend, London Studio and just hold on to the cheapest and smallest studios to keep cost down?

 

They can then purchase exclusivity of games when they are nearly ready, this eliminates the risk of investing in failing projects. Similar to how Microsoft operates....

maybe they could sell them off to ms. they have a lot of expertise in shutting down 1st party studios.

Sony ain't bad at it either.

OT: Uncharted 4 will likely sell great. But that fact is Sony is developing less 1st party games because many have failed, primarily last gen. Their output this gen has been small.

inFamous got an 80, that isn't getting hammered. Very odd that history seems to have been re-written on this game.

MLB is first party, game out this week has an 85 meta.

Can't see Uncharted failing either.

That is my response in pretending this isn't bait.

I didn't get that impression, but maybe you're right.

I was thinking its a response to both Sony and MS putting less focus on 1st party and relying on 3rd parties.

Infamous sold great as well.

MLB is critically acclaimed but sales are modest.
