That was honestly not very impressive.
But that could just be because of the amount of work the guys that made it put into it (the demo, not the engine).

Maybe the engine is fine. The demo? not so much.

What's wrong with the demo?

The trees, you can tell the branches are copy&paste, and the angles of the branches. It just looks fake.

The leafs on the trees, are all in the same 2D plane, so it looks like a spirte, there are better looking trees in most games now adays.

0 16, it zooms in on her face, and her hair is all kinda of ugly. Theres much more impressive hair in actual games out now.

0 19 you see the character model face, and think this isnt a great looking character model.

1 05 theres a tiny bit of stutter in the animation where she draws the arrow

Stuff like that... its minor issues, but a tech demo should be impressive and really showcase what a engine can do.

How is the documentation and support of Lumberyard? Heard CE is terribad and the main reason it's not so popular with indies.

Lots of tricks - which every game engine uses. But, let's not ignore stuff you don't see in today's games, such as the advanced particle effects, advanced AO/DoF/AA.

Nothing wrong with disliking it, but there's also plenty to be impressed by.

When I think of tech demos showcaseing engines this is what I think of:

Which to me, visually just looks much more pleaseing.

Maybe its just bad marketing on their part? but If I made a engine, I would want it to come out and really wow people.
