Forums - Movies & TV - Star Wars 7.. What du you think now.?

Let me first say that i'm very likely one of the biggest Star Wars fan on this side.. Since I saw the original trilogy as kid.. I have used much time thinking on future movies.. and played most of the star wars games, and read most comic.. and just waited and hoped that Lucas would make more

Then the prequels was anunced.. I saw all three at the premiere.. and even though there was a litle iritations whit the first (Jaja and the big fish eaten by bigger fish.. eaten by bigger fish) I liked Phantom Menace from first moment.. in the next to (Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith) I was even more blown away.

And then I saw Force awakens.. And I was.. to put it nice.. Very disappointed.. The movie startet a place I did not expect.. The galaxy was under the dark force controll.. and I got no bagground story, as to why that hapend.. also things like "The Resistance".. why not call them "The Alliance".. And offcourse Rey.. that somehow is almost stronger than a man that not only is Leias kid.. but also got training in both the light and dark side of the force.. There was more that for me didnt ad up.. Other things that proberly ad to the negative felling.. was that I saw it in 3d.. and me and my brother had some beers before.

Then last night I saw it again (3 times) and not in 3d.. And I liked it much more.. most of the things I had seen as plot holes.. was or could be explained.. and also becourse I somehow had accepted the story.. I think it is a perfect setup for the next movie.. And i changed from not like it.. to totally ok and JJ did a good job.

Others that have had that.. "thats actually a good movie" moment.. when they saw it second time..?

It was a massive disappointment when I first watch it, and it still remains as a massive disappointment.

I think it was amazing and my opinion about it really improved each time I saw it. I remember being a little kid and came out of the cinema like: "what the fuck was that?" when I first saw Attack of the Clones. No character work (which is pretty much what I like about SW, its characters), ridiculous dialogue, bland and stupid humour, weak villains with almost zero dialogue and importance... The only thing I think is controversial is that its plot is basically ANH. That's pretty much undeniable. But a movie is way, way more than that. That's narrow it down a lot, when it's pretty much spot on in the rest.

Have you seen it twice.?

Was very disappointed. Still kinda am a little. Im a huge star wars fan and seeing them recycle the entire plot of the first film even to the punchline of some jokes was terribly underwhelming for me. For a franchise that characterizes on originality, this film was a let down.

Sure, it's fun, entertaining and some of the characters are great, and as you say it's an decent film and a good setup for a potentially very good sequel, but still feels underwhelming for a Star Wars new saga and even overrated.

Nope. Its watcheable, but its a bad Star wars movie.

There is so much you need to "just roll with it". Not just from a plot pov but from a science fiction pov.

I felt it was an okay film when I saw the credits roll, a mixed bag on the subway going home, and hopefully the base from which to make new stories once I had actually arrived home. And my opinion hasn't gotten much better since.

Episode 7 isn't awful, but it didn't feel like it was worth watching in theaters instead of reading a plot summary. Phantom Menace wasn't much good, but at least it had some memorable lines, moments, and music. The Force Awakens is the first Star Wars to make me wish we weren't stuck with the current group of characters. Admittedly, part of this was because I wanted to see what horrible things happened to these chumps after Episode 2, but it says something when people care more about the unnamed stormtrooper who swung a stick around than any of the main characters.

Love and tolerate.

The "overrated" part I totally  agree with.. its (for me) insane that this movie holds a 8,3 while Revence of the sith only has a 7,6 rating..?

Good movie. Only real complaint is that it is too much like A New Hope.

It's a bad movie. As simple as that. So many things wrong with it.
