So because Sony gives an upgrade to run PS4 games in better performance after the speculated 3th or 4th year of the PS4s lifetime its better now to have countless of upgrades every month on PC? Or losing physical media and other console advantages?

Also youre from Brazil, maybe a new PS4 with higher Brazilian taxes makes it worse over PC gaming for you, but not for me and others

Oh please. At least stick to facts instead of exaggerating. Performance is a huge deal and if it turns out the price of performance isn't coming down, that's a huge downside for the console. And if you're having countless upgrades for PC, you're either doing it wrong or have too much money to be able to even complain about the situation. I've been having the same setup since July, 2014, and I've been more than happy with the performance. I've no intention to upgrade for at least a year now. You can get pretty good performance in games even with older hardware.

Calling physical media an advantage is debatable. If you get a ton of new games and plan to resell them, physical media is an advantage. If you have patience, PC is cheaper thanks to its better sales. As for 'other console advantages', I don't even know what you're talking about. There are some, maybe even lots, I'm sure, but consoles have been moving closer and closer to PCs for a good while now. A lot of the former simplicity is already gone, and the advantage in initial cost seems to be under threat too.

I'm not saying PC is the better choice because it depends entirely on what you're looking for and what your consuming habits are, but this is a direct strike against two important advantages people have said consoles have over PC: price, and not having to worry about hardware upgrades for the duration of a console generation. Technically you can ignore the new model, but then you get an inferior experience, and you still have to consider whether or not to get the new model.

Actually, right now is bad time to build PC since both AMD and nVidia are about to launch 14/16nm GPUs in near future...so wait a bit longer.

came to write this. not a good time to build, significant jumps in performance ahead.

Actually, if you can, wait until the ned of the year or early 2017 to buy a new PC.

This coming months we'll get new graphic cards from both AMD and Nvidia, and in the CPU front Intel and AMD will also launch new processors.

But hey, you can start looking at other parts: Case, PSU, RAM (DDR4), HDD and/or SSD, CPU cooler, etc.

Is anything known about AMD's new CPUs?

I'm thinking hard about a new PC but I'm really undecided.  AMD's CPUs are really enticing for their price but, wow, most of their stuff is several years old.  I got caught with my current PC where the socket was outdated almost as soon as I bought it, meaning no simple CPU upgrades.  Still, they're such a good value compared to Intel and I'd rather spend my budget on the GPU.  The i5 line is nice but I don't even know if it's really worth it.  I want under $1,000 total so my real limit is $900 at the most.

I'm also done with Radeon, at least for now.  I'm tired of having problems and then reading somewhere "that game seems to work better on Nvidia cards."

Not much is known about Zen: Zen is supposed to give a 40% increase in single thread performance over the latest Bulldozer family processors, Excavator. It will also bring their own version of Intel's Hyper Threading tech and will move from DDR3 memory to DDR4.

That would put Zen still behind their Intel counterparts, but at least you'll need a 4-core Intel CPU to beat a 4 or 6-core Zen processor not like now where a dual core Intel beats everything AMD has except in very multi-threaded applications. Power consumption will be reduced and with a similar price policy as the one they have nowadays, at least they will offer a more viable competition.

AMD has been better than Intel when it comes to support their sockets and motherboards, and with Zen (and their coming Bristol Ridge APUs), AMD will launch the new AM4 socket that will work with the upcoming CPUs and APUs, without separation.

Oh, the i5 line is quite good but, and this is just my opinion, look for a real quad core i5 and not a cual core with Hyper Threading.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

With  all  rumours  of  ''PS4  K ''  well then pc gaming is more enticing than ever before.

toughts?

It's the opposite : having a new PS4 model every 3 years allows you to have an hardware in a close environment which can be fully optimized, unlike PC, and have more power every 3 years; so, a 'casual-hardcore' is considering a lot more PS4 than a PC, as you will have amazing graphics spending max 399$ as the new PS4 is released, instead of spending 600$ for the only PC GPU, and have non optimized games. Look at The Division, and tell me if it's worth it to have a 3000$ PC when basicly you have the same experience on XBox1, which has 1/6 of the power of the Monster PC.   So, having a new X1 or PS4 every 3 years will be even worse for PCs. My opinion ;)

I think 4K 60FPS Ultra settings for that 3000$ (two 980Ti's and a 6700K) versus 900P 30FPS Medium settings on the Xbox One is a big difference.

With the same controller and the same button icons on screen.

No I don't see how "PS4 K" is relevant when it comes to PC building

Especially when it's confirmed to just play Blu-ray 4K and do other things like Netflix and Youtube in 4K.

What's even the point in getting a PS4K when all 4K TV's have Smart TV build in? So only if you still use physical discs for movies, the PS4K might be good buy for the 4K blu-ray player.

Wrong time to build a PC.

Wait for new proccessing nodes for CPU & GPU, GPUs will be out soon that arnt 28nm anymore, and instead have 3D transistors (14nm + FinFET = awesome).

I mean, PC is never a BAD option. I don't see why this makes it any better than before.

you are exaggerating everyone can read how much you have posted and go to topics that have nothing to do with my post.

Performance is a huge deal and if it turns out the price of performance isn't coming down, that's a huge downside for the console.

This model will be priced @400-500$ and will be twice the performance the new leaks have shown. The older model will defeniatley go down in price for new and even more so in used condition. So what you are talking about?

And if you're having countless upgrades for PC, you're either doing it wrong or have too much money to be able to even complain about the situation.

Well this is what people essentiality are complaing about: having a second option, so why does it make sense now to have a billion options on PC? Again you put words into my mouths i havent said, no will force you to buy any new piece of hardware.

I've been having the same setup since July, 2014, and I've been more than happy with the performance. I've no intention to upgrade for at least a year now. You can get pretty good performance in games even with older hardware.

Nope.

Even if you are a die hard digital fan you wouldnt dissagree with the argument that its better to have Physical Media supported on your platform than not having it at all. There will always be moments with friends who will lend their games to you, or even rental stores. Or if the game is being pulled off from the stores like Marvel vs Capcom 3. You see on consoles you have the option, and it works.

These other console advantages are: no cheaters, controller support right of the box and as only option multiplayer and countless of other examples.

but consoles have been moving closer and closer to PCs for a good while now. A lot of the former simplicity is already gone, and the advantage in initial cost seems to be under threat too.

And? PCs advantage is allready gone now too, if i will be able to play my future console games in better performance like 60fps or 1440p on the latest AAA titles what does PC has for anadvatage left over consoles then?

I will have my exclsuives like Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 as well having almost the best running multiplats. And lets face it most of you PC gamers arent running the latest Titan Xs so dont come with that argument,  this new PS4 model will be more than enough to match PC gaming for the next 5 years.

The new model will be lower priced than the equillant on PC and the older model will drop in price even more, so again i dont understand your argument here.

This duration of a console life span holds 5 years. If the PS4.5 comes out this year it will be 3 years, 4 years if its next year. People didnt worry about when they upgraded their PS1s, 2s, 3s or any older console with a newer one. This is even better as it will ensure BC and Forward compatibility.

Yes you can ignore the new model, if you cant ignore that and its mentally that much of an issue for you PC gaming sure as hell isnt the answer. Maybe the answer is that the world isnt all about you.
