No offense lol but how do you have ANY idea that this is the case? No one can know this until the games are out and playable on both systems.

Hope this is all just a ps4 slimm.
Not going to buy every 2-3 years a new console.

I don't know where all this talk about limiting to one PS4 ove the other is coming from. 

Sony isn't stupid. And an X86 architecture lends to exactly these kinda benefits. This is basically like allowing you run your games at medium and ultr settings just that you are doing it with different boxes. 

And I made a thread or commented in one a while back when I was talking about the future of consoles. In that thread I said that stuff like this will happen. That the pS5 will just be a PS4 on steroids. I guess I was wrong and what we are getting is a PS4.5 first.

Not bad for a 499$ console.

If you want to buy a new Geforce 970, your looking at like 330$.

A console this powerfull for 499$ is a decent price.

If true, who would buy the PS5 at release date? Just sit back, wait for the next gen game catalogue to build and buy the PS5.5 mid gen.

The people who didn't upgrade to a PS4.5? Or people who are completely fine with upgrading their tech every 2-3 years.

Its weird to me, to think that a console could be equal to a near top of the line graphics card.

True but Apple has been doing this forever with iPhone and S version and they don't get the same Sh*t as Sony does now.

Let alone that iphone costs more. Some of you don't have a problem upgrading a 800$ phone every month but when it comes to 399$ consoles is the end of the world.

And no, i am not talking about anyone in here in specific. I am just stating what the majority thinks.

I think it will be a niche console tailored towards VR gaming. Apparently Sony's VR is lagging behind Oculus Rift because the ps4 isn't powerful enough to handle it. Nobody really knows how big a thing VR gaming will become and personally I don't think it will. We've seen with 3D that people just aren't going to wear glasses at home, let alone a freakin helmet to watch movies or play games. But if it does, then it makes sense that Sony wants to be ready for the market by releasing a ps4.5 that can handle more impressive VR games. However, I'm pretty sure that it won't have exclusive AAA games that won't be, or look like crap on ps4. They would be shooting themselves in the foot with a rocket launcher if they did that.
