"Double the GPU power"

I mean, I have a hard time believing it. I guess since the PS4 is x86 it might be easier to do something like that but eh... I don't know...

To be honest though, I don't really care about this from a consumer perspective *as long as it doesn't get exclusive games*. I'm more concerned from an investor perspective, in case this damages Sony's profitability, which again impacts my shares :-3

Thanks, it's always valuable to hear insight straight from the shareholder...

It is a rather undeniable fact that anything written by someone with the capability of buying some shares via their internet bank has 100% credibility.

Regardless of a trade-in program or not I will buy this.

The leak could hurt Sony. The leaker describe it as 'considerable sacrifices to performance' on the PS4 but it's not really. It's an 'improved performance for PS4K owners.' This is taking a positive and presenting it in a negative way. I'm worried about this now because the media are going to run with that ONE sentence.

The PS5 Exists.

Upgrade the CPU, and call it a day. As long as they keep on producing the standard PS4, and make sure all of the games continue to work on both PS4 and PS4 Spec 2, then everything should be great. I am completely willing to put down $499.99 if this thing ends up Double the CPU/GPU power and 16GB of RAM.

Been waiting for them to make a premium version of the consoles at the Fab shrinks since they started doing the slims with PS1. So glad to se this finally happen, and I hope it does very well.

If the current PS4 gets all the same games the new one will get and those games aren't gimped completely (i.e. they're still 1080p/30fps), I'm fine with this new PS4.

I'm not an expert but isn't $499 a bit cheap for a console that supposedly will run games at 4k?

Sounds like a bigger increase than I was expecting. Disappointing to hear the amount of games targeting it as 'significant' too. Of course, it will make very little difference to the regular PS4 experience than if it didn't exist, but knowing there is a better machine out there can frustrate.

I normally buy two PS consoles a generation anyway. I guess I will exhaust all the games released beforehand and then make the transition when the price has decreased. This is likely to be the start of a recurring strategy for PS and Xbox too going forward.

However, I have a hard time believing that will happen.

That happened with 3DS and New 3DS, so everything is possible, thanks for NIntendo to show the (bad) way..

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

As long as all games are playable on the original model I don't have any concerns. But there is no way I am buying an upgraded system even if most new games are only playable on PS4K.

Exactly. As long as all games still release and look and run fine on my PS4 I don't see the problem with the PS4K from a PS4 owner's perspective

Yeah, if media are gonna talk about the PS4k and PS4 like that Sony has a lot of problems.

Twice the GPU power is not enough to run games at 4K.

That and the CPU makes me wonder exactly what hardware they are throwing into it, all we hear is "twice", no model or brand to let us know exactly what it's supposed to be pushing. The price point also suggests that it won't be pushing a lot, either that or Sony is willing to spend another gen making losses on expensive hardware.

Upscaled to 4k still isn't as good as native 4k though.
