All these NX are certainly getting out of hand. It's only Nintendo's fault though. They mentioned the NX last year and then stayed quiet regarding for a whole year.

I agree that they revealed it too early, but they had no other option. If Iwata hadn't said anything when the partnership with DeNA was announced, we would have been flooded with articles claiming that Nintendo was exiting the hardware business and going mobile.

It was a necessary evil.

And it's us who talk about it. We even talked about it before Nintendo said anything about NX, it's just that we used to call it "fusion".

Since the 10x rumors were proven to be nothing more than the most popular internet rumors all put together, it's been quite calm in the rumor front.

Do you miss them or are you happy for this period of peace?

Nintendo's investors meeting killed all the hype about NX, and also its rumors .

Well, today I have a story regarding AMD that may make some people even more disappointed... or happy, I don't know.

AMD Will Only Be Fabricating Octa-Core Dies For Zen x86 Processors – No Dual Core or Quad Core Flavors Initially

http://wccftech.com/amd-only-fabricating-octa-core-zen-x86-die/#ixzz47mSpgnJP

It appears that AMD will be sticking with an 8-core dies as far as the fabrication of Zen processors in the Summit Ridge platform is concerned. The mainstream desktop platform is expected to feature 8-core and 6-core variants with SMT and will not, initially, have any quad core or dual core options. On the other hand, the company is expected to launch Bristol Ridge(*) with Quad Core and Dual Core flavors right off the bat.

A report by the Italian publication Bitsandchips.it reveals that AMD will initially only be using octa core dies in the fabrication process of Zen based processors. This method will be the optimal route to use in the production of its Summit Ridge processors because not only will it allow for cost savings (just one die) but will result in the initial wave of Zen x86 CPUs being exceptionally powerful. Since the company is going to be pitting the brand new architecture against Intel’s offerings, which has so far been ahead of the game, Octa-Core and Hexa-Core Zen processors with SMT should be able to compete effectively with their blue counterparts.

(*)Before anything, it's worth mentioning that Bristol Ridge is the codename of the next APUs that AMD will launch this year and that they are based on the Excavator architecture, not on the Zen one. Bristol Ridge = Excavator, Summit Ridge = Zen.

So, what do you say. Do you believe NX will have a Zen based processor or not?

This same rumour has come up again

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2016/05/05/rumour-nintendo-nx-to-drop-discs-for-cartridges

It's been doing the rounds for a while, imo solid state formats will return they're not only cheap now but maintain their advantages over discs as well as have overcome their disadvantages.

^I don't really buy the idea of cartridges, they are still more expensive than discs and hace less capacity.

They have equivalent space and always have so I don't know where you got this idea from, the problem with SS formats was always the price per space which at this point in today's world is now insignificant when compared with discs.

Part of this rumor comes from Micron making a 32GB ROM, which some suggest that it could be what Nintendo would be using. The problem is that those 32GB are not enough for Third Party games (Nintendo games are usually smaller in size).

Also, ROMs may have come down in price, but with game discs being stamped, they are still much cheaper to produce.

???

Discs right now hold 25 GB so how is having 7 more GB not enough?
