So this recently happened at SFSU

and THANKFULLY it was all captured on camera. Thoughts?

I'm astonished. This lady has issues if she's offended by a guy wearing dreadlocks. Too bad Bonita Tindle (I believe that's her name), you can't just bully people like this or try to impose your standards on others. Here's hoping she learns a very valuable lesson from all this.

My thoughts?  Carry Mace, or a pocket knife.  Inform any individual who puts their hands on you that technically it's assault the second they touch you unsolicited.  If they persist, you are legally within your rights to escalate the situation.

The reason why this is necessary at this point, is that these cultural appropriation, safe space bullies, have yet to have boundaries enforced.  If one of them loses eyesight (Chemical mace can blind), or gets a nice scar, for violating the law...and the person who did it walks scot free.  It'll send a signal that there is a limit to what these dipshits can do.  And yeah, I realize that's extreme, but so is thinking you actually have a right to physically touch someone, because you don't approve of their hairstyle.  What a dumbass.

What's hilarious is that, if you think about it, by her standards, on St Patricks Day and Halloween, due to my ancestry, I'm allowed to go around and ruin those days for everyone non-Irish.  I could quite literally prevent children from trick or treating.

Blacks can be racist too. I know because Im black and live in a country thats 90% black. This whole power + privilege thing is just North American mental gymnastic bullshit. Every human on the planet has the capacity to be racist. Cultural appropriation? Sure, people who ride on some "exotic" trend without understanding its origin are pretentious and annoying but they arent bad people.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

wait what? This must be a joke

It seems it's always Black females that go on these "cultural appropriation" rants. I myself have to deal with it on few occasions being a dread head, and i'm half black. Then i mention Bob Marley was all biracial and it usually shuts them up.

Next she's going to go up to a Sadhu and complain about his 'cultural appropiation'.

I see the issue with taking a repressed populations culture and converting it into a marketable product for the opressors to gain profit from, I really do. I also see the problems with naively stealing other peoples holy symbols and misusing them without any regard to the original meaning or intent of the symbol (looking at you swastika...).
It's insulting. I get that.

BUT cultures have been mixing and migling for literally ever. It's not a bad thing. Every guy being so in love with your cultures look that he wants to imitate it, is a reason to celebrate, not to be offended and to bully them.
If you're worried people misunderstand your culture, seize the opportunity to teach them about it. They're already interested, use that interest. They are not stealing yur culture, they are part taking in it. Maybe they will take elements from it to create their own. It's not something you can stop anyways.

I'd be interested in knowing what courses she takes and who her professors are.

I looked for the video and an article somewhere else since the video at the OP was taken down.

The hell is her problem? Why doesn't she let him adorn his hair on whichever way he wants? If he were mocking or disrespecting the black culture, then there would be a problem. But there isn't a problem. It's a hairstyle used freely by multiple cultures. Sure, many cultures have adopted traits from others, traits for survival and daily usage. Also, why grab the guy's arm and prevent him to keep walking? What can that do to prove her point?

Is cultural appropriation even a thing? If it is, she can't be more hypocritical.

Maybe she should shun all the things white people, culture, advancements have brought to the table... That would be a rather primitive mess. Say goodbye to your Western values, lifestyle, education, medicine, literature, science, technology, transport... etc, etc...
