I am all for it as soon as i would have the money. Even if this stronger ps4 would only increase the frame rate a bit on existing games like a steadly 30fps in Bloodborne. Or if it would only increase the resolution to semi 4k, i would even buy a 4k TV from Hisense for 400€ as 4k tvs are not as expensive as most people think.
My ideal wish would be simple having 60fps 1080p.

I really dont get why people are complaing, paying 60€ for games who are stuck on a graphics settings is more expensive in the long run, look at these remasters coming out you are buying. Or keeping your ps3 and 360 around.

Wii U / PS4 owner.

Would definitely not upgrade, because I will probably get to play the PS4 exclusives I want to play on my regular PS4. I dont 4k resolution and what not a possible upgrade would do for me.

Wake me up when PS5 is closing in.

No, wouldnt buy even if I had a 4k TV, because I would rather buy a XBoxOne.Having said that, I dont believe this rumor to be true.or rather, is just a normal slim version

This. I refuse to beleive this rumor is true. At the same time Sony's lack of comment on this story which is growing and growing is startig to worry me. It's just the idea seems so silly I just can't believe it. Not to mention that a 4k console just doesn't seem realistic right now.

No. But if this becomes the norm. I'll wait for the PS5.5 to buy the systems for now on. I know I won't buy a PS5 at launch now.

Not a single chance. I rotate my entertainment funds and generally buy all consoles+ a decent desktop/laptop, and lastly of course games. The last item I bought was a PS4 and a few games so PC, XB1 or Wii U is next. With all of them, I am waiting for prices to drop. This year also has quite a few PS4 releases I want to buy so it is likely I only buy SW.

PS4 owner, won't buy. I could see myself maybe getting one about 5 years into this gen. I upgraded my 80gb PS3 last gen, at roughly 5 years in, into the 120gb slim, which i put a 500 gb HDD into.

For a 4K UHD player, yes.

I rather they keep the game hardware the same, or we'll end up with games that aren't really optimized on either spec. Devs will spend less time trying to get the best performance out of base ps4, expect more fps dips, nor will they add real enhancements to the 4.5 version, expect more frame pacing issues.

Actually I believe the opposite.  I believe developers will definitely spend the time to optimize for the installbase that is the biggest which will be the current system but the new system will get either very limited or no real optimizations because the install size will not be big enough to invest in that time.  I highly doubt developers will not code and spend the lion share of their time on the current system as it would be absolutly nuts to alienate your current customer base.

If it was actually a 4K gaming console(which i highly doubt), yes.

Mildly exaggerated post ahead
Current PS4 owner.
Won't upgrade. I've owned it for less than a year. Anyone planning to trade in their PS4 will get minimal return because everyone else will have the same idea.
I despise the complete upgrade model, like in smartphones (where you have to replace the whole thing and not just a component).
I spent $500 on my PS4 already! Now the $650 VR and another $500 console will be on the market? The only thing Sony will get from me is a spoon, so they can eat my ass.
Yes I know that it's "my opinion" and I "don't have to buy it". Well I won't be buying it. I like my long generations that validate my purchase. I don't like it when the Facebook app crashes every 5 minutes on my 3 year old smartphone because it is optimized for the newest devices. If this rumor turns out to be true and they get any closer to the smartphone model then I will quit video games and revert to throwing rocks at signs for entertainment I swear to Buddha.

#1 Amb-ass-ador

The only reason I might consider it is if it delivers native 4k gaming which I really doubt, otherwise, no.
