Forums - Movies & TV - Deadpool is Now The Highest-Grossing R-Rated Film of All Time

Fox's Deadpool has broken more boundaries than just the fourth wall, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time

According to Box Office Mojo (as reported by The Guardian), Deadpool has now taken $745m in box office earnings worldwide, surpassing previous long-time record holder, The Matrix Reloaded's $742m.

The film had already broken the record for the biggest R-rated opening weekend, and is now the eighth biggest comic book adaptation in US box office takings.

Who didn't see this coming?

I honestly did not see that coming. I am surprised, and honestly happy and scared now.

I still wish that one of the movies I am most hyped about Suicide Squad was R Rated, however that is okay. I am scared now, because I imagine a lot of people trying to make rated R movie that well is not good, but riding on this standard deadpool set.

happy to hear that, i really liked deadpool!

I watched it yesterday!

It's very well deserved.

Though its pretty funny in terms of timelines. I think the movie is in a Marvel universe timeline, but the timeline is not the same as the X-men movies, wich have their own (2 actually).

I also loved the writing. It was amazing seeing the first faithfully written Colossus in an X-men movie. Deadpool was also very well written. It felt exactly like a comic book.

I don't know how they are gonna pull off Cable, but fingers crossed.

As much as i like the X-men. I wish marvel could take the reigns of it again to make all these movies make sense in their overarching universe.

I thought this would be in the second x-men timeline, which is the new timeline. I want marvel to have x-men back as well, but I want Fantastic Four back with Marvel, before x-men.

The marketing campaing for this movie was strong so I'm not surprised, well deserved.

Would have to be something crazy like beeing between the 1st and second or 2nd and 3rd movies. Because Colossus mentions the professor is alive.

Wasnt the ship the last battle was on the helicarrier from the avengers though?

That is incredibly surprising. Now we can all forget Ryan Reynolds did the green lantern right?

I need to see this movie ):

Well the new timeline the third movie is rewritten. Also I think that is a helicarrier, so maybe you are right. I am surprised I never put two and two together.

I liked the movie but holy shit the low budget shows ... and they said the sequel will have a low budget also, fuck you fox.

One of the few xmen movies that had interesting characters and faithfull representations of them, that was fucking colossus , that was deadpool, negasonic was a great character and funny. A dude with a low budget pulled this off and brian fucking singer is destroying xmen and uses big budgets... They should give the second movie a bigger budget.

No, no that is good news. The lower the budget it has, the less studio has to deal with Fox Executives that would ruin the movie.
