Everything I want to discuss is in the title so please feel free to give your opinion on the matter and if you need it summed up in a binary fashion,here goes.

Do you believe an artist or creater of any type of consumer content (exluding age ristricted content) should be free to explore whatever themes or plot devices that may offend or imply offence be it taboo issues, radical political ideas, sexism. racism or whatever "Ism" it might be that one may wish to explore regardless of weather or not they hold these views in strong conscious belief outside of their art form.

Or

Are you of the view that freedom of speech extends to all artforms in whatever taboo, nasty, offensive or painful truth that it may take shape. regardless of other peoples sex, race, moral beliefs, opinions, painful histories, personal or cultural values (Again, age ristricted contend excluded.) and how this may cause conflict even if it may incite ideas that may be harmful (For example, The film The interview and how it affected Sony and stirred up some policial issues.

Basically. Can you handle the truth no matter how painful it may be (Others should too) or should everyone be held to take others views into consideration at the expense of freedom of speech?    

I am writing many short stories in my free time and have recently started forming and fleshing out a bigger story from many of the themes I have explored in short form and I would really like to get a sense of the opnions here on one of the most intelligent and considerate forums that I have come across. And if you are in a country with different laws, for example, writing a screen play about Muhammad reincartnated as a serial rapist, drug pushiing pimp who manages to become a prophet in America and after becoming a political fingure manages to gain support for the annihilation on every muslim on the planet through a vector virus that attacks genes unique to middle eastern men causing their testicles to fall off and slowly cause an eventual sex change while eliminating the possibility of reproduction....While I'm just parodying I am pilgrim and Dan browns Inferno here, what if this became a global sucess in the film world and while not breaking any laws in say, the US it offends muslims and may quite possibly cause serious reprecussions to the political stability between the US and the middle east....well, more so than usual. Whats your stance on this ridicuous but quite real scenario?

I still don't see the problem. Look back at that movie, The Interview. It almost caused an international issue, yet it still released on theaters.

On the other hand some mohammed caricatures in the magazin Charlie Hebdo caused terorristic attacks in paris.
