Ouch. There is no excuse for this to have failed to surpass Jurassic World's opening haul. It had two of the most iconic characters in fiction locking horns in the most hyped battle of all time. Given BvS 29-and-falling rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Civil War could be poised to cut off its legs and crush it. DC shouldn't have tried to rush JL out the door; this film could have been the magnum opus for the superhero genre.

It's 40min longer. It would be very hard to cross the 200mill mark.

There is not much chance for CW to cross it either, its also 2:30 length

Ticket sales sharply declined day-to-day; the length of the movie doesn't account for the failure to bring in money if there are a bunch of empty seats in the cinema.  Word of mouth is working against BvS and it's showing at the box office.  No excuse.

Plus there are a lot of reviews of bad faith, saying Batman kills too much in the movie is a huge hyperbole, all deaths are indirect in reality ( this point is important, because some critics seem a bit brainless and didnt understand the movie or slept during some parts, dreaming about killing someone doesnt make you a murderer, it's just a dream), he is far from a punisher, in fact, he doesnt kill more than all the other Batman in the others movies.

So this leads me to believe reviewers try to kill the hype for this movie as much as they can, i have no other way to explain such lies and bad faith.

I do not even think he killed anyone in this. Did he? The only time I thought he would was......spoiler etc.......you know.

Batman killed a lot of people. He killed several kryptonite chase scene alone.

I'm obviously not surprised by the huge success over the opening weekend as many that were looking forward to see a movie between Batman v Superman regardless of the negative critics had probably already went and saw it.

But lets just wait and see next week's sales. My friend is a manager at a movie theater and has told me that sales ticket sales have significantly dropped day-after-day.

So just like i said, indirect death from his Batmobile, he destroys their vehicles but dont pull the trigger on their head.

Just like any other Batman movie, it's really a false debat started by haters because this debat never existed for last batman movies, just watch them, you'll see he kills as many if not more persons indirectly from batmobile or from his actions in general.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

These box office numbers are an embarassment for WB and DC. People were expecting Star Wars numbers, they thought this movie would kick the Avengers' ass and it fell short of all of that. Now they're settling down for a fifth place acting like it's a huge feat.

A record they're actually setting is the biggest drop from friday to sunday, beating the Fantastic Four reboot. Don't fool yourselves, word of mouth is BAD and people are noticing.

It was going to do great regardless of the reviews. The big question is how well it'll perform for the following weeks. It doesn't seem to have much competition until Civil War which is like a month away.

I'm watching the movie tomorrow on discount day.

I guess box office returns reaction is based on expectations. To me having "Batman" and "Superman" on the marquee with a massive $250 million budget and huge marketing push (on par with Avengers and Star Wars) making anything less than a billion dollar gross cause for concern. It looks like it will comfortably pass that mark.

The big challenge will be the stand alone Cyborg, Flash, Captain Marvel (or Shazam), and Aquaman films if DC and WB can get audiences to buy into lesser known heroes.

Thanks dumb reviews.

The world is doomed if a bad movie like Avengers 2 does more.

More like The Dark Knight series or something else?

What i hope is that they dont make the movie more "funny" , with more jokes , just because the fucking reviewers dont like dark superhero movies.

what?  Those same reviewers who love the Daredevil and Jessica Jones shows? What about The Dark Knight?

Maybe they just don't like bad movies.  Man of Steel and Batman V Superman are both bad movies, exercises in style over substance and poor excuses in worldbuilding.  This one tried to shoehorn in Justice League cameos and did it worse than Sinister Six building in The amazing Spider Man 2.

I gave them my money.  I enjoyed the action scenes, but this movie was bad.  Stop pretending there's some sort of bias against DC.  If there was, then critics would have hated The Dark Knight.

Don't blame just the critics. It's getting a polarizing reception from the audience as well. I heard more positive reception for Age of Ultron than this movie.

And don't bring up the IMDB score. BvS had a 9.6 score before it even came out.
