How big was the Wii storage anyway?

512 MB.  If you wanted more, you were limited to standard SD cards at first (up to 2 GB).  An update enabled SDHC cards up to 32 GB.  That update also allowed games to be downloaded directly to the SD or SDHC card.  Before then you had no choice but to fill up your 512 MB space first.  Considering only WiiWare and Virtual Console titles existed at the time for download, 512 MB was more space than it sounds like.  I had several games on it.

Not even a gigabyte. And people complain with the WiiU's 32 Gb. lol

Then again, I've never needed a SD card for my Wii, so it might be enough.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The storage was just meant for save files and VC titles.
WiiWare was an add-on later, those took more storage hence the expansion option implemented afterwards.

The save files were better implemented in the Wii, easily transferable via SD. On the WiiU the save files are locked due to the hacks, linked to your game's digital data.

Really, they should all be in your internal storage (or stored online). I lost my Splatoon data due to a corrupt usb drive, somehow the game data was stored there.

Huh, you'd think an online-focused game would have all the player data backed on their systems, to avoid hacking and cheating.

It´s all in the save file. You can make a copy of the save file to a usb and trial/error the spins from shells. If you don't like the outcome, you can use the copy.

Nintendo has a history of short changing their default memory going all the way back to the Gamecube. That said, they REALLY cannot afford to go with dumb low capacity flash memory anymore. 500 GB hard drive minimum.

Memory or storage?

And consoles didn't have built in storage until the 7th generation....so all the way to the Wii.

I'm basically combining storage and memory, since the Gamecube couldn't download digital games, and in later systems they both shared the same space.

And I didn't say built in. The original GameCube memory cards were notorious for their low capacity, which is why Nintendo had to release higher capacity memory cards later in the system's lifespan.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.

I guess I misunderstood you. I'm talking about the thing that both game saves and digital games go onto. Since the Gamecube didn't do digital games, I'm talking specifically about the memory cards the system launched with that were used for game saves.

My memory of finer details of early 2000s gaming aren't the best, but I believe the system launched with only the smaller memory card 59, with the larger memory cards coming later.

1TB is what I'm feeling.

You know, because it'll be all digital.

Ready to make a big fat "I was wrong and clearly had no clue what I was talking about" thread?

I'm going to guess it will have 500gb

I'm going to guess you'll be very disappointed.

Emily said 32GB, and given that she got a lot correct, I'm inclined to believe her. You'll be able to expand it via SD Card.
