Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is Quantum Break the new standard for emotion in character Graphics?

The game looks freaking amazing! Can't wait to play it for myself!

As for the topic at hand the freaking facial animations look stunning to me. Are they the best and a new standard...I wouldn't say all of that BUT they do look better than anything from last generation IMO. Heck the only game I can see giving them a run for it's money is UC4 but since neither is out yet I will just wait until I play both and judge them for myself.

Either way in the next two months we will be getting two awesome games!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

From 0.35... it genuinely looks like live action. No doubt about it, this is the best motion capture I have seen in a game / cutscene.

Truly astonishing facial animation.

Not to be contrary but there is amost nothing there to judge.  You're talking about near the beginning?  He's just looking pensive while in heavy shadow.  There is very little facial movement of consequence.

The texture and lighting in that sequence look really good, though.  I just need to see something a lot more emotive.

However, oddly enough, the textures on the two frozen people don't look nearly as good.  The hair looks especially fake.  Perhaps they're not important enough to get the A+ treatment.

I care more about ambiance, environment or ai then facial expression really it's nice at first glance but you don't really notice it after a couple of times but a nice environment field with great npcs like in the witcher 3 ho boy!! that's an other story.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

It really does seem like you are reaching.  The OP clearly gave an exactly example of ingame mechanic that triggered a facial response but then you go out of your way to find something totally not revelant.

They've ignored the game that has the best acting in order to argue QB has the best acting. How the hell is that reaching? You can't talk about this subject without bringing TLOU into it, it's what TLOU is known for and why it's one of the highest rated games of all time.

In the op I have provided several previews. And The Last Of us is mentioned in the op.
